The Opportunity
This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL (Lake Bluff, IL) location in Transfusion Medicine. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision-making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.
As the Manager, Marketing Research, Competitive Intelligence, and Data Analytics, you’ll manage primary research and secondary analytics to guide business decisions. You will be responsible for overseeing the collection, processing, visualization, and interpretation of data related to transfusion medicine specific process (Market Share, donations, TAM, market value, competitor intelligence, etc.). This role will involve developing data-driven strategies to enhance our operations, processes, and support market intelligence initiatives. The position requires a thorough understanding of database relationships and the ability to consolidate, build, extract and analyze information from databases using complex query statements and advanced database tools. Provides market data and analysis used in planning process.
You will Conduct comprehensive competitor analysis to identify industry trends, benchmark performance, and inform strategic decisions.
What You’ll Work On
Led and improve the current MS2 process, collection of the data, consolidation, dashboard, visualization.
Oversee the collection, processing, and interpretation of large datasets related to transfusion medicine to support business analysis. (Owner of the process and tools).
Proactively identify knowledge gaps in context of current business needs, recommending and aligning management to closing these knowledge gaps.
Data management and analysis and of the ongoing operation of a data infrastructure process for the Transfusion Medicine business, integrating new data sources, and analyzes centralized KPIs to enable fact-based decision making.
Strategy Development: Develop and implement data analytics strategies to improve the data collection process. Facilitates and/or performs data clean-up activities as needed within the current TM databases, identifying areas of improvement and accuracy of the data. Runs reports, analysis, creates summaries of data and distributes information proactively on a regular basis as well as when requested.
Works collaboratively with internal partners to ensure business issues are translated into specific research questions with clear business impact.
Identifies research design and/or secondary data analysis that is appropriate to address business issue; interpret research findings and synthesize into actionable business insights and recommendations.
Analyzes trends relating to competitors, customers, TM segments, policies that impact the industry.
Reporting: Support and prepare and detailed reports and visualizations for senior management and other stakeholders.
Proactively identify knowledge gaps in analysis of the data & data collection process that we are owner.
Assists in dissemination information contained within the “TM Market Intelligence.”
Works collaboratively with internal partners to ensure the data we are collecting is accurate, reliable and on time.
Articulate market dynamics and performance, identifying the right sources to compile relevant data for the Market Intelligence.
Assess vendor research designs to ensure answer core business questions and maximize value.
Distils data from primary and secondary information sources to drive business decisions.
Articulate market dynamics and performance, customer needs attitudes and behavior around assigned brands and categories.
Demonstrates agility in managing multiple priorities and projects in a complex environment.
Manages relevant IT tools as required, managing data uploads, accessibility, training, communication, and general support.
Guide and develop Sr. Analyst(s), Market Research & Data analytics role.
Maintains data and privacy integrity by conferring with Privacy, Legal and Compliance to vet data requests against intended audience.
Establishes and maintains working relationships with internal Abbott stakeholders including but not limited to, Finance, Marketing, Sales Operations, and Sales divisions.
Innovation: Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data analytics and transfusion medicine to drive continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
Associates degree.
Minimum 5 years experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven proficiency in data analysis tools, data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and statistical analysis. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. - familiar and able to analyze secondary data (REQUIRED)
Proven ability to integrate data from different data sources to provide clarity and direction to multi-functional team.
Bachelors degree preferred.
Demonstrated examples of personal leadership leveraging consumer insights/research to develop story for brand.
Strong influencing skills, and ability to work effectively with all levels of business team management.
Ability to coach others and build organizational talent relative to market research and strategic thought.
Working knowledge of technical market research skills, and having managed qualitative, quantitative research.
Strong analytical skills - familiar and able to analyze secondary data.
Proven ability to integrate data from different data sources to provide clarity and direction to multi-functional team.
Excellent written and communication skills.

The base pay for this position is
$97,300.00 – $194,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
