Job Description:
Biogen is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Manager to support Commercial Analytics for our Alzheimer franchise. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive actionable insights and strategic decision-making by collaborating with the analytics lead and other stakeholders to derive actionable insights and influence strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pharmaceutical/life sciences analytics, experience with pharma datasets, and proficiency in analytical tools and programming languages.
This position offers a dynamic mix of analytical, strategic, and operational work, with opportunities to collaborate with a wide array of stakeholders at various levels to help drive business success. The individual will report to the Associate Director, US Commercial Analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with the analytics lead to define analytics scope and roadmaps, ensuring timely delivery to meet business needs. Collaborate with the US brand team to ensure alignment with the analyses.
- Work with Customer Data and Insights team members to understand business performance and market events, contextualizing within the forecast framework.
- Lead and manage commercial analytics projects, including marketing and sales analytics.
- Extract and analyze data from various sources using tools such as SQL, Python, R, and/or SAS to develop insights and recommendations.
- Utilize pharma datasets such as PurpleLabs, IQVIA 867, IQVIA DDD, call activity data, and MMIT to inform strategic decisions.
- Develop and deliver high-quality reports and presentations to stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable business insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate reporting.
- Manage multiple projects in parallel, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with diverse groups of colleagues and stakeholders, managing ambiguity and fostering collaboration.
- Stay updated on new trends and methodologies in analytics and bring innovative ideas forward to enhance the organization's capabilities.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, IT, or a related scientific/commercial discipline. MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience delivering actionable analytical insights in the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skill set, including Excel modeling skills.
- High comfort sourcing, manipulating, analyzing, and visualizing data via standard tools/charting methods.
- Ability to effectively present and defend analyses.
- Ability to deliver complex analytical investigations and cross-functional projects with limited guidance.
- Familiarity with incorporating both qualitative and quantitative inputs into synthesized insights.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to draft synthesized outputs and drive actionable insights.
- High customer orientation as a service partner to marketing and other functions.
- Ability to manage workload with limited guidance and support in prioritization.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in analytics. Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry and/or strategic consulting discipline preferred.
Key Competencies:
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable insights. Strong hands-on experience with SQL and knowledge of Snowflake, Databricks, Python, and Power BI.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and manage ambiguity.
- Innovation: Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with data governance, data quality, and data cataloging tools such as Informatica or Collibra.
- Prior healthcare data experience, including working knowledge of physician and patient claims; PurpleLabs or Komodo data preferred.
- Knowledge/experience mining and analyzing medical claims/EMR, social media, etc., data with a strategic/inquisitive mindset and a proven record of producing actionable business insights.
- Prior analytics experience conducting customer, field and patient analytics.
Additional Information
The base salary range for this position is $139,000 – $186,000. Base salary offered is determined though an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location,
and internal equity.
Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term
incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed
