Wood is seeking expression of Interest for an Information and Data Management Consultantto potentially join the team for its DC unit. The position requires engaging with clients, assessing vendors and fostering continuous improvement in data management practices. 

The roles can be based anywhere within the UK with occasional travel.

The Role 

The role involves providing consultancy on information and data management while developing strategies and frameworks to ensure effective implementation. It includes defining governance standards, improve data quality, and optimizing workflows using BIM methodologies.

The Information and Data Management Consultant scopes and supports the delivery of information and data improvement and management projects for Wood’s clients. They support our lifecycle information management and digital twin programmes, working collaboratively across Wood's global business. They work with both internal and external clients in support of digitalization initiatives and deliver strategic growth in Wood’s Asset Information Management service line.

Within our Digital Operations team, our clients are operators of critical energy infrastructure as well as specialist manufacturing and pharmaceuticals, who are committed to maintaining safe and effective operational assets worldwide. Our work supports every stage in the asset lifecycle but particularly focussing on the integrity of engineering data in digital solutions as well as optimising existing assets through our engineering expertise. We advise clients as they navigate through the digital and energy transition

Typical responsibilities:

  • Develop information and data management strategies and plans (and define and co-ordinate appropriate resources to support delivery of) 
  • Write standards and procedures to define information and data management governance, standards, processes and systems, ensuring alliance with client requirements and interfaces 
  • Create tangible workflows and associated deliverables around information and data management, including the application of BIM methodology 
  • Identify, manage and support gaps in data quality 
  • Assess and recommend data management tools, software and technologies
  • Support the integration of data system with enterprise applications, cloud platforms and 3D visualization system
  • Define project specific data requirements and oversee their implementation
  • Share best practices and learnings globally, optimize technology costs, benchmark performance
  • Interface with potential clients to define and win new scopes of work
  • Maintain relationship with existing clients, driving continuous improvement in data management practices

Expected: 

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject 
  • Experience in engineering data and information management environment 
  • Experience in a client facing position 
  • Achievement in a lead role including standard scoping, writing and implementation 
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its applications 
  • Knowledge of information and data control standards, processes, ownership and governance 
  • Knowledge of 3DV systems and interface requirements. Knowledge of digital asset representation technologies  
  • Experience of digitized data collection
