Position Summary

Market Intelligence and Data Analyst

 

Job Description:

 

The Market Intelligence and Data Analyst is a member of the Marketing team responsible for managing operations for the school’s external rankings, its market intelligence, and campaign, website and social media analytics. A successful candidate for this position will need to have exceptional attention to detail along with a superior capability in project management and strong communications skills. This position reports to the Director of Market Intelligence (DMI) and supports the Marketing Leadership Team. The position works closely with data representatives from each of the school’s departments to maintain the school’s compliance with external rankings organizations, and collaborates with colleagues on the digital team to coordinate data for the school’s website, campaign and social media analytics.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Business School Rankings:

  • Manage ranking project calendars and conduct outreach on schedule/deadlines
  • Lift issues from data owners to DMI
  • Coordinate individuals in departments for departmental review
  • Coordinate alumni outreach including data pulls and outreach letters
  • Research/supply background and previous years reports as needed
  • Input and formatting of change analyses for leadership review as needed
  • Maintain logistical contact with publishers
  • Review and input rankings data into portals
  • Manage change requests/reconciliations
  • Support audit processes and background requests
  • Analyze methodology and ranking results and communicate to the leadership team as needed

 

Marketing Analytics:

  • Aggregate and analyze data from multiple sources to create monthly campaign reports
  • Pull Google, mass email, social media and CRM data from campaigns in process and format for DMI use and dissemination in standing meetings and reports
  • Develop and maintain web analytics reports in Google Analytics and Google Data Studio
  • Monitor campaign performance and lift issues to DMI on a regular basis
  • Support end of campaign and end of fiscal year reporting

 

Market Intelligence:

  • Develop queries, reports, dashboards in deep listening tools such as Brandwatch
  • Develop report and dashboards in social aggregator tools such as Benchmark
  • Collect market intelligence from various sources (applicant media discussion forums, business education news portals, social media sites, etc.) on a regular basis
  • Analyze market intelligence data (largely text data) to draw key insights and summarize the findings

 

Market Research Surveys:

  • Support DMI in coordination of focus groups and meetings
  • Help with survey design and analysis as needed
  • Format information for dissemination

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and highly comfortable working with quantitative information
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with ability to effectively and efficiently manage several projects simultaneously and to work under firm deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment including both internal and external clients
  • Strong/persuasive communication skills and the ability to develop and nurture working relationships across teams and departments
  • Technical skills
    • Expertise in Microsoft suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Ability to write queries using Boolean Operators and familiarity with web scraping tools
    • Experience with Google Analytics and Google Data Studio, must possess solid understanding of reporting structure and admin interface within Google Analytics.
    • Proficiency and experience with Google Tag Manager is a plus
    • Exposure to CRM systems and email distribution management (such as Slate, Salesforce) programs a plus
    • Familiarity with online survey tools (such as Qualtrics) is preferred
    • Experience with text analytics and data visualization tools is a strong plus

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field (business, accounting, etc.)
  • 3-5 years of work experience in project management and data analysis
  • Master’s degree in business is preferred

 

 

 

Anticipated Pay Range:

 

 

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $58,656.00 to USD $85,000.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
