Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a dynamic Data Center Service Engineer to support Supermicro Global Services.  This position will focus on total customer satisfaction for delivering our on-site installation services.   This role will be heavily involved in gathering requirements for on-site services installation projects by coordinating with the cross-functional teams from Sales, Product Management, Rack Team, Cost team, as well as our external customers, on project cost estimates, scheduling and installation planning.  You must have exceptional requirements gathering, project management, analytical and communication skills to succeed in this role.

 

The job location for this role will be at our HQ in San Jose.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
• Frequent interface with the Sales team and new and existing customers in providing turnkey on-site installation services
• Drive day-to-day operations in requirements gathering, installation planning, resource planning, to ensure we meet our on-site installation services forecast requirements, customer satisfaction and our business growth targets
• Coordinate tasks of our on-site installation team working with Sales, product management, Rack Team and Cost team to deliver outstanding on-site installation services and service maintenance solutions
• Develop Statements of Work (SOW) based on Sales and customer input and requirements.
• Create project cost estimates based on the detailed SOWs 
• Help plan and schedule resources to support the on-site installation services projects based on the developed SOW.
• Flexibility in working hours, as well as travel to customer sites and facilities as needed (25%)
• Special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration
• 5+ years of experience in the computer/server industry
• 5+ years of experience installing and supporting systems in modern Data Centers
• Experience working with customers and internal cross-functional teams to gather detailed requirements for installation services
• 5+ years of experience in servicing x86 systems and parts
• Experience developing statements of work (SOW) for installation services
• Proven track record of managing projects and delivering on time
• The ability to work and coordinate efficiently with cross-functional teams including Sales, Product Management, Rack Team, Costs team and end customers, internally and externally, to optimize on-site installation services
• Break/fix experience and on-site customer service experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.  Advanced level in Excel and Power Point.  Excellent presentation skills required.  Experience with ERP system (Salesforce) preferred
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, develop and implement new processes

 

Please note that this position requires regular in-office attendance. The successful candidate is expected to be present in the office during standard working hours as determined by the company. In-office collaboration and participation in team meetings, training sessions, and other on-site activities are essential aspects of this role. Candidates should consider the commuting distance and be prepared to fulfill their responsibilities in the designated office location.

Salary Range

$70,000 - $100,000 

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
