Role Profile

Data Analytics is part of the Index Data Management group of Benchmark & Index Management within the FTSE Russell business. The Data Analytics team is a customer-focused, technology enabled team, producing unique analytics and data derivations that drive insight and value for our partners. The team is responsible for creating LSEG Intellectual Property by generating derived fundamental data content and similar content based on data standardization from raw data.

We are recruiting for a Senior Factor Analyst, reporting to a Manager within the Data Analytics team. The Senior Analyst will quickly develop the skills to work with key partners to develop, maintain and monitor derived data (e.g. Price earnings ratio). The candidate will be responsible for the timely, efficient and accurate review of derived data at all index review periods and will lead team members on data projects to improve and optimize our ways of work.

Creation and Maintenance of High Quality Fundamental Factors

  • Develop excellent subject matter expertise on a wide range of our data, indexes, business, along with the technology landscape to achieve it.

  • Build a strong understanding of problems and be able to create solutions though available tools and processes. The role requires looking at completely new problems and compiling the required information to resolve it.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across all areas of the business to deeply understand requirements allowing the team to develop, maintain and deliver a complex roadmap.

  • Consistently balance multiple competing priorities to maintain delivery timelines, with flexibility for changes in priorities.

  • Mentor and assist in the development of the Factor Data Analyst team members.

  • Create & document methodologies behind analytics in conjunction with Research and external clients

  • Specify requirements and collaborate closely with Technology on implementation of analytics

  • Test output of data derivations ensuring Accuracy of calculations

  • Wrangle data from internal & external sources into standardized data models

  • Create and monitor quality control checks on raw & derived data

  • Ensuring high quality, complete derived data content is created and provided for use in index builds and other products    

  • Respond to client questions in an efficient and timely manner, providing root cause and action plans where necessary to prevent future reoccurrence of issues

  • Assisting in the production of regular reports and in new product development in data and technology segments to support index and analytics

Communication

  • Produce data visualizations and data quality reports to management and partners

  • Clear documentation of technical requirements around analytics to ensure smooth implementation in partnership with technology

  • Deliver clear and accurate analysis to facilitate partner discussions

  • Build trust with partners by consistently understanding and fulfilling partner requests in an accurate, timely and professional manner

Key Skills

  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles, and fundamental and valuation analysis

  • Demonstrated experience with market data, including procedures of corporate action treatments, currency changes & common market identifiers

  • Solid grasp of data management theories with 3-5 years practical experience, including managing and monitoring data from common third-party vendors

  • Excellent computer literacy, including advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite of products, Database querying language (SQL) and a willingness and skill to learn new tools quickly

  • Customer focused with a good understanding of typical workflows within Investment Managers

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to work within a team

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
