What you'll be doing

As a key member of the Risk Management team, you will lead the implementation of CIBC's Second Line of Defense operational risk program for Data and AI. In your role as the Director of Data, AI, and Project Program, you will be responsible for establishing and administering enterprise maturity assessments and scorecard programs tailored specifically for data and artificial intelligence initiatives. You will ensure that the Data and AI team has the necessary delivery and communication capabilities to effectively oversee second line risk management activities for their assigned lines of business stakeholders. Additionally, you will provide second line risk oversight for CIBC’s Enterprise Project Office (EPO) team.

How you’ll succeed

  • Program Development: Establish and manage enterprise maturity assessments and scorecard programs for data and AI, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
  • Operational Risk Framework Oversight: Develop and implement robust risk oversight capabilities, such as dashboards, to provide insights into operational risks related to data, AI, and project management. Proactively analyze these insights to effectively oversee CIBC's risk landscape, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure appropriate actions are taken to manage and mitigate identified risks in these critical areas.
  • Project Risk Oversight: Act as the second line of oversight for project risk by identifying and assessing risks associated with project and program frameworks. Ensure that these risks are effectively managed within the organization’s risk appetite, fostering a proactive approach to risk mitigation and enhancing overall project governance.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with key stakeholders across CIBC to ensure effective communication and alignment on program objectives, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
  • Reporting and Insights: Deliver comprehensive reporting on program performance and project risks, including insights and recommendations for enhancing operational effectiveness and achieving strategic objectives.
  • Enterprise Risk Reporting: Support the timely and effective delivery of Enterprise Risk Reports to various executive risk oversight committees.
  • Communication Management: Oversee the communication capabilities for the Data and AI team, including the administration of SharePoint for documentation, project intake, and triage processes.
  • Risk Assessment Leadership: Lead the execution of risk assessments as assigned, including Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRA) and Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), to identify and mitigate operational risks associated with data, AI, and project management.

Who you are

  • You have extensive experience in Operational Risk Management: You possess significant experience in operational risk management, particularly in data and AI initiatives. You have a proven track record in conducting risk assessments, managing operational controls effectively, and administering maturity assessments and scorecard programs.
  • You are Accredited. You are a certified professional with current accreditation in the Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) and hold additional certifications related to data management or artificial intelligence, which are considered assets.
  • You have strong Communication Skills: You excel in communication, enabling you to effectively manage documentation and facilitate project intake and triage processes, ensuring clarity and impact in all
    interactions.
  • You are analytical. You derive meaningful insights from data and enjoy investigating complex problems. Your analytical skills empower you to communicate detailed information clearly and effectively.
