The Data Product Owner leads a team of 4-5 Data Engineers. They translate strategic roadmaps into actionable backlog items, prioritize technical and functional requirements, and ensure the delivery of high-quality analytical data products. Their focus is on enabling the Finance department to leverage RSM’s data assets by collaborating with system owners and IT partners to achieve the Finance Modern Data Platform (Azure Databricks) vision and strategy.

Essential Duties

Lead and mentor team of 4-5 individual contributors, fostering a high-performance culture. Oversee the delivery of key team responsibilities, including:

  • Functional Business Analysis – including research, documentation, and business approval of functional requirements, development of end-user documentation, delivery of training courses
  • Testing – including test case design, documentation, and execution.
  • Support – including assessing the need for change and development of solutions, issue identification and escalation.

Backlog Management:

  • Collaborate with Finance Digital Leader and Financial Planning and Analysis Leaders to translate strategic roadmaps into backlog items.
  • Own and prioritize the technical and functional requirements in the product backlog

Leadership activities and other duties, including:

  • Serve as liaison between business and development teams to identify feasible solutions
  • Mentoring of team and other stakeholders
  • Continuous development of skills and training for Finance Data team
  • Actively contributing to the development and improvement of team processes
  • Build and leverage internal and external networks
  • Advocate for user community by understanding user data to identify needs and pain points  

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, or a related field - required

TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS

Required qualifications

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Genuine interest and strong aptitude for use of technology
  • General knowledge of data architecture principles
  • Strong SQL or similar language expertise
  • Strong technical expertise in MS Office suite
  • Experience or Certification with Workday Financials, Workday PSA, or Workday Customer Accounts                

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5+ years relevant work experience – required
  • Strong data analytics capabilities and a continuous improvement mindset – required
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies – required
  • Prior experience working with Finance department in Accounting or Public Services industries - required

Preferred qualifications

  • Business analysis training and experience
  • Excel training and advanced skills
  • Great attention to detail and quality    

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

  • Plan and lead components of multiple, complex projects – required
  • Proven track record of success in leading high-performance, technical teams – required
  • Strong interpersonal skills plus a pro-active approach to finding solutions to issues and managing priorities – required
  • Self-motivated and pro-active approach to follow up on job assignments – required
  • Ability to work and lead efficiently with remote team members - required

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $107,900 - $184,800

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
