Job Description:

The Airbus UpNext Optimate demonstrator will pave the way to smart automation capabilities by integration of new innovative bricks including computer vision and data fusion. The goal is to help the pilots and facilitate the mission.

The Remote sensors for collaboration internship is within Airbus UpNext, will ideally begin in mid-April 2025  (date subject to flexibility), and will last for a period of 5  to 6  months.

Your Mission

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include: 

Review different sensors capabilities to detect obstacles, like LIDAR , RADAR, Cameras and how they are relevant to identify targets in low level light environment as remote sensors

Check if these technologies are able to be installed as remote sensors on vehicles while being able to limit their power consumption

Develop a solution to run such capability in a real airport environment 

The main activities will be:

  • Identify & analyse the capabilities of different sensors in terms of detecting obstacles

  • Make a benchmark of the sensors used in vehicles context regarding positioning capabilities

  •  Identify remote solutions in the market to detect and track objects 

  • Select remote sensors to tests in the Optimate projects environment 

  • Develop solution to run in an airport environment

What you bring:

  • Engage in Engineer Master’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field 

  • Understanding of radar, lidar signal processing and its integration into deep learning workflows.

  • Knowledge with synthetic data generation and its application to training robust AI models.

  • Interest with multi-modal sensor fusion techniques.

  • Knowledge in Python and/or C++.

  • Knowledge on Internet Of Things (IOT) and cloud technologies

  • Passion about technology, science

  • Eagerness to take initiatives to propose simpler and efficient ways of working

  • Impatience and burning desire to attain rapidly, along with a healthy skepticism for progress

  • Values of transparency, humility, empathy

  • Autonomy, Adaptability, Availability, Accountability

  • Team-Player mindset

  • Willingness to have fun.
