ABOUT THE TEAM

The incumbent will report to the Director, Data Governance team, who is responsible for defining and operationalizing governance over PSP’s enterprise data, particularly through the lead of Data communities. The Senior Advisor is responsible for helping businesses implement data solutions following the established Data Governance Operating Model.

ABOUT YOUR ROLE

As a Senior Advisor, Data Governance, you’ll: 

  • Partner with Business Stakeholders and IT to drive continuous improvement of our data management capabilities, practices, and outcomes to enhance both business performance and compliance levels over time through our Data Governance operating model

  • Lead Data Owners and Data Stewards training and onboarding

  • Determine root causes and business impacts of data quality issues; Assess existing data rules & responsibilities. Foster recommendations and solutions following analysis

  • Determine and prioritize data related risks with business Data Stewards and SMEs

  • Provide strategic guidance to data producers and users in understanding how to leverage data to its full potential for the benefit of enterprise and customers, within data governance perspective

  • Grow data literacy and data maturity across the organization through effective communication strategies and training to build core data proficiencies in data-related and business roles

  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of practices and mechanisms to ensure compliance with data frameworks

  • Coordinate, track, measure, and report on the performance of the standards and practices deployed, including the evolution of data governance operating model maturity

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in finance or in a relevant field (information technology, financial engineering, statistics, administration etc.)

  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in the field of data management, data governance, change management and implementation of complex technology systems

  • Strong knowledge on Data Governance and Data Quality concepts, as well as its best practices

  • Experience in the capital markets industry or Data management experience in an investment firm considered an asset

  • Significant experience in establishing and managing data governance programs and execution of related strategic plans

  • Ability to influence, engage and build positive relationships with stakeholders

  • Attention to detail and rigorous approach to research, analysis and documentation

  • Strong ability to manage different stakeholder perspectives and resistance to change

  • Finance Certification (CFA, CAIA) is an asset

  • Data Certification (DAMA, DCAM, Etc.) is an asset

  • Bilingualism: English and French (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
