Senior Data Scientist

This is a 100% remote role for candidates based in the Washington D.C. Metro Area (D.C., Maryland, Virginia). Candidates can be located within a 2-hour commute from Alexandria, Virginia. 

Candidates must already have or be able to obtain a security clearance 

Abou the job: 

The role involves evaluating alternate models via theoretical approaches, identifying and exploiting data assets to create new patterns and business value, and building predictive models with advanced algorithms to extract and classify information from large datasets. The candidate will analyze data to develop robust statistical and predictive algorithms/models that drive product outputs, identify meaningful patterns and trends to expose new business opportunities, and translate results into understandable and actionable outputs that answer real business questions. This position enhances measurable value for the Agency and its customers by improving customer and operational Key Process Indicators (KPIs). 

 

Required Clearance: 
Candidates must already have or be able to obtain a security clearance 
 

Required Skills: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant and practical experience with SAS, data processing, and data analytics 
  • Extensive background in data mining and statistical analysis 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills 
  • Ability to evaluate alternate models using theoretical approaches 
  • Experience identifying and exploiting data assets to create new patterns and business value 
  • Proficiency in building predictive models and developing advanced algorithms for large datasets 
  • Strong analytical skills to identify meaningful patterns and trends that translate into actionable business insights 
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or a related field 

 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment 
  • Familiarity with AWS features such as AWS SDK, S3, SNS/SQS, SES, or Lambda functions 
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or other project/issue tracking software 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including identifying areas for improvement in processes or analytics 
  • Knowledge of modern data science tools and frameworks 
  • Experience with Oracle-based application environments 
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and deployment pipelines 

 

Salary Range: 

Salary Range: $130,000 - $142,803
