Data Engineer Intern

As a Data Engineer Intern in our Data team, you will be responsible for supporting one of our awesome innovations in which we are using the data generated by millions of app-users. What this role looks like

During your Data Engineering Internship, you will be involved in the following activities:

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, databases, and data processing systems to support the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from a variety of sources.

• Use SQL, Python, or other programming languages to manipulate and analyze data.

• Use Object-Oriented programming to improve data features and extract data.

• Learn and maintain the connections between the main systems that we use internally.

• Communicate with stakeholders of different degrees of technical background (Finance, Operations, Support…) and create the bridge between the technical implementation and the business operations

• Create value out of the data generated by hundreds of employees, thousands of clients and millions of consumers

• Support strategic decision-making by providing data-driven insights to answer crucial business questions

• Translate complex datasets into actionable business insights

• Use state-of-the-art BI software to create stunning visualizations

• Work closely with different departments to coordinate effective use of data to optimize operations.

• Implement data governance and privacy standards across various data sources and platforms.

Requirements

What you will bring to the Data team

• (Currently pursuing) a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Mathematics, or another related field.

• Understanding of data structures, databases, and SQL

• Comfortable with object-oriented programming

• Familiarity with BI concepts and the data life cycle

• Highly motivated and enthusiastic, with great initiative and work ethic 

• Full English working proficiency (verbal and written)

• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to deep dive into data and technical issues

• Strong analytical skills and a getting-things-done mentality

• Proactive and full of new ideas

• Eager to use and create valuable data insights by using the latest technologies in the area of BI and Data Science (we’ve got licenses!)

• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy and quality

• You are available for a full-time internship for at least 5 months

• You are excited to live and learn in Amsterdam, Netherlands

• An interest in health, fitness, nutrition, productivity and/or workplace wellness are additional assets
