Senior Data Engineer in Revenue Management

About the role 

In the Revenue Management Department of DFDS we are continuously working with projects which fuse pricing experience and know-how with data science to help our passenger and freight business become even more profitable. We are looking for a talented individual to join us in our future journey by helping transform our ideas and ambitions into real-life working solutions.

You will:

• Work with data and its underlying infrastructure to solve business problems, add value to our solutions and improve data processes
• Build and maintain robust data pipeline architecture that clean, transform and aggregate data from various data sources and API integrations using SQL and AWS technologies
• Cooperate with data scientists to design, build and maintain data heavy engines that increase the operational efficiency of business users by enabling them to easily manage the capacities and prices on our vessels
• Collaborate with cross-department stakeholders to build data products and improve DFDS’s global data architecture

Additional tasks:

• Work closely with data scientists to create data tools and provide unique insights into our data
• Identify, design and implement opportunities for enhancing data quality and reliability in our data acquisition and data delivery processes
• Enhance and optimize DataOps procedures

About you

You will be in frequent contact with people with broad experience. Some of them will be more focused on business, some on technical aspects. Your internal customers have a high data literacy. Your closest team consists of data engineers, data scientists and a visualization specialist.

We are seeking a talented person with at least 3 years of experience in a similar role to join our team.

What you will bring:

• A strong DevOps mindset (CI/CD automation, code containerization and orchestration, platform governance)
• Proficiency in writing clean and readable Python code, following best practices and coding conventions
• Ability to perform complex operations and process large datasets in SQL.

Nice to have:

• Experience with developing and maintaining Apache Airflow
• CI/CD automation in Azure Pipelines or equivalent
• Unix Bash knowledge
• Cloud experience (preferably AWS)
• Docker and Kubernetes experience
• Experience with event-driven architecture (Kafka) and ETL processes
• Data build tool (dbt)
• Experience with API development (Flask, FastAPI etc.)
