About the Role
The Data Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the team’s delivery, ensuring structured execution, clear prioritization, and alignment with business needs. They own sprint ceremonies, roadmap planning, and team operations, driving efficiency and accountability. This role focuses on enabling the team to deliver high-quality, reliable data solutions by improving processes, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and managing team performance. As a hands-on leader, they will provide mentorship, remove blockers, contribute technically as needed, and create a culture of execution and continuous improvement. The Data Engineering manager will partner closely with Software Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Machine Learning, and business stakeholders to develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy and roadmap.

Responsibilities
- Drive execution, ensuring the team delivers high-quality, reliable data solutions aligned with business priorities.
- Lead sprint ceremonies, roadmap planning, and prioritization in partnership with stakeholders.
- Work closely with Product, Analytics, Machine Learning, and Engineering to align data initiatives with company needs.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to team workflows, tools, and development practices.
- Support career growth, provide feedback, and develop a high-performing data engineering team.
- Oversee data integrity and ensure high-quality, accessible data across analytical and transactional systems.
- Contribute technically as needed, guiding architecture, troubleshooting issues, and supporting critical data initiatives.
- Establish metrics to track progress, communicate priorities, and demonstrate business impact.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring data engineers, with a focus on execution and delivery and 6+ years of data or software engineering experience.
- Demonstrated success in driving team operations, including sprint ceremonies, roadmap planning, and prioritization.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining ELT pipelines, working with SQL, DBT, Python, and OLAP databases like Snowflake.
- Track record of improving team processes, optimizing workflows, and driving measurable impact.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product, Analytics, Machine Learning, and Engineering, to align data initiatives with business goals.
- Strong communication skills, with a history of effectively translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience managing ambiguity, breaking down complex problems, and driving clear, iterative solutions.
- History of coaching and developing talent, fostering a high-performance engineering culture.

The total target base compensation for this role will be between $163,000 and $225,000 per year at the commencement of employment. Please note, pay will be determined on an individualized basis and will be impacted by location, experience, expertise, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. Further, cash compensation is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may include stock options and other Charlie Health-sponsored benefits. #LI-HYBRID
