Summary

At PGE, our Trading Analytics team develops analytical tools, models, forecasts, and data visualizations that help traders and leadership assess risk and identify opportunities in evolving energy markets. As market structures shift and decarbonization accelerates, our work is more critical than ever in navigating uncertainty and driving data-driven decisions. As an intern on the Trading Analytics team, you'll work alongside experts in market fundamentals and energy trading, gaining firsthand exposure to how energy markets function and how PGE manages its power supply portfolio. Your work will involve sourcing and integrating data, automating processes, and developing analytics tools to support trader decision-making. One potential project includes creating a Tableau data visualization to provide market insights, but opportunities may vary based on your skills and interests. This role offers a chance to apply data skills in a real-world energy environment while deepening your understanding of trading and market risk.

Key Responsibilities

Data Sourcing & Integration: Assists in gathering and integrating data from PGE systems and external sources (APIs, market data, weather models, etc.) to support analytics and trading decisions.

Market Analytics & Insights: Researches and analyzes market fundamentals, price trends, and trading strategies, providing data-driven insights to help assess risk and opportunities in evolving energy markets.

Automation & Process Improvement: Supports the development of automated data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting tools, improving efficiency and accessibility of market intelligence.

Visualization & Decision Support: Assists in building Tableau dashboards and other visual tools to translate complex data into actionable insights for traders and leadership.

Collaboration & Learning: Works alongside traders, quantitative analysts, and market fundamentals experts, gaining exposure to PGE’s energy portfolio, trading operations, and market risk strategies.

Education/Experience/Certifications

• Currently either an actively enrolled undergraduate or graduate student (recent graduate in good standing and pursuing a degree in business, finance, economics, computer science, mathematics, engineering or other related field or equivalent experience.
• Requires a valid driver's license and a history of safe driving practices.
• Some prior volunteer or work experience preferred.
