Job Description

Our Connected Technology Group (CTG) defines and drives the digital, data and technology strategy for KPMG. We have an important advocacy role for technology in the market and across KPMG, working with our technology leaders to build our market presence. We cultivate collaboration and integrate tech execution across our business, driving a firmwide approach to how we go-to-market and build the capability of our people and attract new talent. 

KPMG is going through some significant transformations in the Data & Analytics domain and is therefore looking for a highly experienced data governance professional with a broad-reaching ability to adapt to a fast-changing IT landscape. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant difference to KPMG as a firm by helping to drive leading technology initiatives across our business.

As part of the Business Data Services team, you will be directly responsible for the design and implementation of multiple Data governance projects and initiatives for a diverse set of requirements. As a thought leader, you’ll engage, educate, and enable KPMG Australia’s internal stakeholders on best practices.

Your Opportunity

Forming part of the Business Data Services team we are looking for a Data Governance Lead with capabilities like:

  • Refine and progress the implementation of our Data Governance Framework, liaise with the Firms Data Governance Council and Data Working Group.
  • Develop further our Enterprise Data Dictionary and Business Glossary and provide training and support for data users across the firm.
  • Act as owner and SME for Data Governance best practice, tooling, processes, frameworks, standards and architectures, including MetaData, MDM, Data lineage and lifecycle
  • Build a governance culture in the firm ensuring that data is appropriately documented and managed
  • Develop and execute the business plan for the improvement of data governance in the business working closely with the CTG team and key stakeholders
  • Drive the development and execution of relevant data quality and data controls frameworks
  • Manage Data Governance in the enterprise and improve data governance, data quality and master data practices
  • Drive the business case development for data governance tools to support best practice application across the firm.

Your Experience

  • 5+ years of experience working in data governance role, including 2 years in a professional services/financial services business.
  • Demonstrated experience working in, and leading, Data Management, Data Governance and related areas.
  • Previous experience leading, developing and implementing a data governance strategy within a large organization.
  • Experience working with master data, data migration, data lineage and data quality assurance.
  • Extensive experience with data management software/tools and Implementation
  • Good understanding and experience implementing Australian privacy principles.
  • Understanding of Azure(preferred)/AWS Cloud technologies.
  • Strong written, verbal and stakeholder management communication skills
  • Run working groups/ workshops with Data Stewards and subject matter experts and provide advice and guidance on the execution of data governance activities.

Qualifications

We are looking for applicants who have qualifications with DAMA, EDM Council (or comparable qualification) or a desire to undertake one.
