Business Intelligence Engineer

The Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation and support of reports and Dashboards as well as the development of ETL processes concerning reporting needs. The BI Engineer will be working in cross functional teams with multiple expertise roles, like Project Management, Business Analysis and Data Analysis. In order to take part effectively and accomplish successfully the required tasks, he/she has to comprehend the business requirements, be able to transform them into technical requirements, do the actual implementation, test the final product and produce the required documentation.

Main Accountabilities

• Designs and builds dashboards in Power BI
• Enhances and redesigns existing reports from existing report formats like excel and SSRS, to dashboards assisting in the transformation strategy of the firm
• Designs and builds ad hoc reports and data exports using SQL queries and/or python
• Cooperates closely with the data custodians and data modelers in developing data sets specifically for reporting purposes (the data custodians own the data lineage and provide technical guidance in developing data transformations and data sets)

Requirements

Education, Experience and Technical Skills

• BSc degree in Computer Science or similar. MSc will be considered as an asset
• Minimum of 2 years proven experience developing dashboards with PowerBI
• Minimum of 3 years proven experience in developing ETL processes with large scale databases, ETL tools like SSIS, and developing code in SQL and/or Python
• Previous experience developing code on cloud platforms using Python and Spark will be considered as a strong asset
• Knowledge and experience of testing practices and code versioning  (test driven development)
• Knowledge of developing code and ETL processes on cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
• Knowledge and experience of task management using tools like JIRA
