Department Overview

The Technology Solutions Department is responsible for designing and delivering state of the art technology solutions that are designed to create efficiency, mitigate risk and grow revenue for the Firm. Technology Solutions is also responsible for defining, managing and executing a robust Cyber Security program following the NIST Cyber Security Framework. Technology Solutions focuses on technical excellence through innovative application designs, robust data integration and analytics, high availability infrastructure and gold level service for our key stakeholders with information security embedded throughout. Critical functions within Technology Solutions include Project Management, Vendor Management, Business Analysis, Enterprise Data Governance and Stewardship, Application Development and 3rd Party Integration, Strategic and Secure Infrastructure and Operations. The Technology Solutions Department collaborates closely with Firm leadership and business unit heads to develop plans in line with business objectives.

Position Responsibilities

The Golub Capital Technology Solutions Department (TS) is looking for an experienced Business Analyst with deep understanding of investment data. The Business Data Analyst (Data Gaps Specialist) is tasked with identifying, analyzing and resolving data gaps to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the Firm's data. This role requires close collaboration with various departments to understand data requirements, conduct thorough data audits and implement strategies to address data gaps. As a vital member of the specialized Data Governance team, the Business Data Analyst will work directly with the different business units to provide expertise, analysis and solutions for critical data issues, driving strategic data initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative team member with strong analytical capabilities, business analysis skills, attention to detail and adaptability. They should have a robust understanding of our systems and data flows and be an effective written and verbal communicator with both business and technology teams. The candidate will use their skills to provide subject matter expertise and conduct in-depth analysis, contributing to the strategic efforts of the Data Governance Project Team. The candidate should have excellent problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail, an inquisitive nature, a passion for excellent service, the ability to self-start and be resourceful and a solid understanding of data and systems. This is a client-facing role requiring communication with users at all levels, so exceptional verbal and written communication skills are critical.

Responsibilities include:

  • Data Analysis:  Understanding data flows and hierarchies within the Firm including how data is sourced and aggregated to enable reporting and analysis capabilities
  • Data Gap Identification:  Analyzing datasets to identify gaps, inconsistencies and missing information. Includes helping define requirements and ensuring data is fit for purpose.
  • Requirements Gathering: .Working with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for data projects
  • Implementation:  Understanding and translating business requirements, working with Product Owners and Developers to prioritize for implementation
  • Business Process Improvement:  Analyzing business processes and finding opportunities for improvement through data-driven insights
  • Data Management:  Ensuring data integrity and accuracy by developing and implementing data management practices
  • Collaboration:  Working with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and address data gaps. Working with operational and TS teams to implement data gap solutions.
  • Documentation and Communication:  Documenting business and technical requirements, processes and solutions clearly. Communicating insights, progress and outcomes to stakeholders and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Influence and Advocate:  Promoting data governance practices and raising awareness about the importance of data governance across the organization
  • Continuous Improvement:  Finding opportunities for process improvement within both the business analysis and data reporting workflows. Proposing and implementing enhancements to improve overall efficiency, data quality and user experience.
  • Project Management Support:  Supporting project management efforts by assisting with planning, tracking deliverables and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project execution
  • Firm Data Support:  Serving as a point of escalation and ongoing support for the Data Governance Committee as well as all users of data extracts

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of experience, investment data experience and an understanding of systems and data management
  • Knowledge of Data Architecture including Database models relational and dimensional models
  • Strong understanding of SQL for querying databases and data manipulation Knowledge of SQL
  • Proficiency in Power BI for creating reports and dashboards
  • Knowledge of Python is a plus
  • Strong quantitative orientation, analytical skills and seasoned judgment as well as a high level of intellectual curiosity and tolerance for navigating ambiguity
  • Effective time management skills and the ability prioritize multiple initiatives are crucial
  • Flexible and willing to adapt to meet the needs of the team
  • Self-motivated, team oriented and able to multi-task

Compensation and Benefits

For Illinois Only: It is expected that the base salary range for this position will be $155,000 to $200,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skills, experiences and qualifications for the role. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial and / or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time and parental leave) dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an ‘at-will position’ and the Firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time including for reasons related to individual performance, Firm or individual department / team performance and market factors.
