About Us:

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative R&D Engineer to join our team. You will play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge products and improving existing technologies for the design, production, and installation of our photography studios across North America. If you are passionate about engineering, problem-solving, and have an interest in the photography industry, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and prototype new products and technologies for photography studio applications.
  • Improve and optimize existing studio components and systems.
  • Conduct research and experimentation to identify innovative solutions.
  • Implement and test automation and control systems.
  • Utilize CAD software and circuit design tools to create detailed designs.
  • Program and integrate embedded systems and microcontrollers.
  • Fabricate and assemble prototypes using 3D printing, CNC milling, laser cutting, and other manufacturing processes.
  • Perform hands-on assembly, installation, and modification of studio components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during development and implementation.
  • Manage R&D projects, including timelines, budgets, and collaborations.
  • Document and report on research findings and development progress.

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
    • Experience with circuit design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad).
    • Programming proficiency in languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB.
    • Experience with microcontrollers (ESP32, Arduino, Raspberry Pi) and SoCs.
    • Understanding of wireless communication protocols (Zigbee, Z-Wave, BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, Thread).
    • Familiarity with smart home and automation platforms (Apple HomeKit, Home Assistant, SmartThings, Matter).
    • Knowledge of materials science and manufacturing processes (3D printing, CNC milling, laser cutting).
    • Experience with industrial automation, control systems, and robotics.
    • Proficiency with common power tools (drills, saws, grinders, sanders).
    • Ability to assemble, install, and modify studio components.
    • Basic electrical wiring and soldering skills.

    • Effective project management skills.
    • Creativity and a passion for innovation.
    • Design Thinking skills.
  • Education (Bonus, Not Required):
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Applied Sciences.
  • Nice-to-Have Skills:
    • Experience with data analysis and statistical tools.
    • Familiarity with simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, Abaqus).
    • Knowledge of machine learning techniques.
