*Note: This position requires presence in our San Francisco office location 4 days per week; Lambda’s designated work from home day is currently Tuesday.
What You’ll Do
Oversee the design, implementation, deployment, and operations of our core cloud control plane services
Lead and grow talented team of senior and staff level software engineers
Lead projects from concept through production release, support, and maintenance
Collaborate with fellow Engineering Managers and leadership to align your team’s work with company goals and customer needs
Drive engineering best practices and operational excellence within the team (including documentation, ticketing, code reviews, testing, etc)
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to foster a culture of continuous learning and growth
Serve as the glue between customer-facing dashboard team and low-level infrastructure teams
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ideate and build cutting edge orchestration and scheduling systems tailored to modern AI workloads
You
BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
At least four years of engineering management experience, especially in a related application area
At least seven years of software engineering or individual contributor experience, including at least two years of experience in Python or Go, with significant exposure to designing, building, and maintaining large-scale, high-performance distributed systems
Demonstrated experience managing teams in a high-growth startup environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships
Strong problem solving, project management, and decision making skills, with a track record of successfully driving projects to completion
Deep understanding of software and hardware concepts, systems programming, networking, storage, database systems
Expertise in modern containerization and virtualization technologies, e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, KVM
Ability to balance fast-paced product feature delivery with technical maturity and scalability
Familiar with the requirements and challenges involved in preparing a company for an IPO, including compliance and security
Excellent organizational skills, with a knack for bringing order to chaos
Strong ability to guide deep technical discussions to meaningful conclusions and actionable plans
Background in multi-region deployment strategies and high availability architectures
Experience directing the design and implementation of fault-tolerant systems with automated recovery mechanisms
Nice to Have
Experience in the AI/ML or computer hardware industry
Proven track record of designing and implementing large scale cloud systems
Salary Range Information
Based on market data and other factors, the annual salary range for this position is $285,000-$385,000. However, a salary higher or lower than this range may be appropriate for a candidate whose qualifications differ meaningfully from those listed in the job description.
