Job Description
Position Summary
The Analyst will be responsible for continuously improving upon the use of company and client data and information and identifying new growth opportunities from this data. Uses data analysis and reporting software such as SAS, R , Python, SAP, PL/SQL, CLICK, SAP HANA, Business Objects and Tableau. within Washington Gas' Utility Operations. Accountable for reporting and analyzing data, creating dashboards and providing various types of management information for leadership. Liaises and works closely with corporate IT and BI functions.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Handles requests from various business units for operational data needed from SAP and other systems – also identifies ways to automate such requests and/or facilitate self-serve for business units for data/reports
• Uses GIS/mapping software and data visualization tools to assist with route optimization/resource allocation; Coordinates modifications to the operational regions as required
• Develops in-depth knowledge and expertise and performs analysis to ensure accuracy of corporate information and data systems and their associated interconnectivity
- Develop econometric and statistical models using the best tools and techniques (multivariate analysis, regression, and time series data analysis)
• Gains understanding of various operations business processes and leverages knowledge/understanding gained to support development and delivery of improvements/recommendations
- Analyze data for trends and patterns and interpret data with clear objectives in mind
• Monitor and coordinate the business units’ activities to support operational performance management
• Develops, maintains performance metrics, run queries and reports using Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau and other systems for Utility Operations, including KPIs
• Performs statistical analysis to identify and implement efficiency improvements in resource management
• Develops and maintains productivity and quality metrics for Utility Operations personnel
• Creates and constantly improves operational dashboards for Utility Operations
• Retrieve and analyze data to support ad-hoc business needs and strategic decisions through identifying and troubleshoots data errors within WG systems of records and recommends solutions accordingly
• Completes other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
• Bachelor's Degree in a business, engineering, statistics, or data analysis related discipline is required
• Master's Degree is preferred and may substitute for one year of experience
• 5+ Years of related experience is preferred
• Advanced level proficiency using - Excel, Tableau, SAP HANA, Business Objects, SQL, GIS (Smallworld and or ESRI)
• Demonstrated strong proficiency in data analytics tools such as R, Python, Alteryx, SAS or other such tools used by analysts and data scientists to process data from multiple sources to provide valuable management information
• Demonstrated strong working knowledge of statistical and optimization tools, such as measurement systems analysis, capability analysis, hypothesis testing, analysis of variance, correlation and regression analysis
• Demonstrated ability to complete analytical data intensive projects, as well as the ability to clearly communicate the results to a broad spectrum of audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve process efficiency improvements through the use of data analysis
• Knowledge of WG systems of record preferred, including but not limited to Itron FCS & FDM, SAP, CLICK, SAP Work Manager, CGI’s ARM suite, Smallworld, ESRI, and Application Xtender
We offer a competitive salary range of $94,000to $136,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
