We're seeking a talented Senior AI Engineer - Content Intelligence Specialist to join our team and lead the development of AI-driven solutions aimed at improving the speed, relevance, and accessibility of news content. 

Position Overview: 

As a Senior AI Engineer, you will spearhead the development of AI solutions to accelerate digital content publishing. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, software engineers and editorial teams, to build tools that empower editorial teams to create, optimize and distribute content more effectively. The role involves not only technical design and implementation but also prototyping ideas and assessing their feasibility for integration into production environments.

Key Responsibilities: 

Technical Leadership: 

● Lead prototyping and development of AI solutions for content publishing automation.

● Evaluate and implement AI tools including open-source, commercial, and multi-modal models. 

● Design and implement robust testing strategies for AI solutions. 

● Establish metrics and validation processes for AI-generated content. 

Product Development: 

● Develop tools for headline optimization in collaboration with other software engineering teams, meta description generation, and content summarization. 

● Create solutions for improving content discoverability and SEO performance. ● Build and integrate AI chatbots and intelligent agents. 

● Implement RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) systems and fine-tuning pipelines.

● Meet required quality, performance, observability, and scalability standards. 

Cross-functional Collaboration: 

● Partner with editorial teams to ensure AI solutions meet journalism standards. ● Work with software engineering teams to maintain development best practices and ensure compliance with CBC AI operational guidelines. 

● Guide prototype evaluation and implementation roadmap. 

● Mentor team members in AI development practices. 

Qualifications: 

Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. 

Technical Experience:

● 5+ years experience in AI/ML engineering, focusing on NLP and content automation for media or content industries. 

● Proven experience building and deploying AI-powered tools, particularly in content generation, text summarization, and image recognition. 

● Expert in Python, ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn), and HuggingFace.

● Proven experience with LLM integration (GPT, Claude, Gemini) and RAG implementations. 

● Strong background in cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) and production AI deployments

● Experience in prototyping and testing new AI models and concepts in collaboration with cross-functional teams. 

● Experience with AI chatbot development and agent-based systems. 

● Experience with data pipelines and version control (Git). 

● Experience with content recommendation systems, content discovery algorithms, or personalization engines. 

● Familiarity with fine tuning techniques. 

● Understanding of SEO principles, content relevance algorithms, and digital engagement metrics is a plus. 

● Familiarity with Continuous Training and building ML/LLMOps operation pipelines. (e.g. Airflow, KubeFlow, ML flow, VertexAI, Azure MLOps

● Experience with Guardrail frameworks (e.g. OpenAI moderation tools, NeMo, GuardRails, etc) 

● Experience with LLM evaluation tools and tests 

● Proficiency in Java is nice to have. 

Soft Skills: 

● Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex AI concepts into clear, actionable insights for editorial teams. 

● Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess the technical feasibility and business value of new AI solutions. 

● Collaborative and team-oriented with a focus on delivering solutions that meet both technical and editorial requirements.
