Senior Data Scientist, AnalyticsIntroduction to Team
We are the Distribution and Supply team at Expedia. We own Pricing, Inventory, Reservation and Offers. We delight our Travelers with great prices for any travel (hotel, vacation rental, air, cars, packages and cruises), and support them to reserve and manage their experience. We own the unified technical systems that perform these functions, and handle trillions of events that deliver this value at Expedia’s global scale.
We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist to lead our pricing, inventory and reservations data domain. The role will define the data models and flow, work with our engineering and product teams to capture customer intent and business outcome and define and implement metrics for performance tracking. The role will lead testing and learning through A/B and multivariate tests and help brainstorm new features to delight our travelers. This is a full-time position based in Seattle.
In this role, you will:
Apply advanced analytical techniques on big data to support business decision-making, in deep partnership with our product and engineering teams.
Lead the weekly metrics review to provide actionable insights, tracking progress against goals, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Use your creativity and business acumen to translate business problems into structured analytical questions and choose the most appropriate methodologies to answer these questions.
Own the relationships with our stakeholders, and work autonomously to prioritize and execute the most impactful analytics projects.
Influence partners and senior leaders through communicating across various levels of the organization using clear and compelling storytelling and presentations.
Prioritize multiple tasks and workstreams simultaneously and own projects end to end.
Experience and Qualifications
You have a strong background (Bachelor’s/Master’s degree) in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, operations research, data science or similar and 6+ years of experience in industry or equivalent
You are a logical thinker that uses data to bring creative angles to customer problems.
You are an expert with Python, Scala or R, or any other major machine learning programming language.
You are a high performing and influential individual contributor. You interface consistently with product and technical roles, and enjoy leading complex, innovative projects.
You have excellent verbal, written and data visualization skills.
You are comfortable exploring ambiguity and prioritizing between conflicting demands.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
