As a Sr AI Scientist, you will be part of a cross-disciplinary team working on commercially facing development projects involving large, complex data sets. These teams typically include statisticians, computer scientists, software developers, engineers, product managers, and end users, collaborating with partners in GE business units. Potential application areas include remote monitoring and diagnostics, financial portfolio risk assessment, and operations optimization.
Roles and Responsibilities:Develop analytics to address customer needs and opportunities.
Collaborate with software developers and engineers to translate algorithms into commercially viable products and services.
Work in technical teams on the development, deployment, and application of applied, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
Perform exploratory and targeted data analyses using descriptive statistics and other methods.
Work with data engineers on data quality assessment, data cleansing, and data analytics.
Generate reports, annotated code, and other project artifacts to document, archive, and communicate your work and outcomes.
Share and discuss findings with team members.
Additional Responsibilities
Design and implement networks to automate clinical tasks using medical images, electronic medical records, waveforms, and clinical reports.
Ensure algorithms meet accuracy requirements through statistical analyses and error estimation.
Develop innovative machine learning techniques and advance the research agenda of the team.
Explore learning from human feedback and assist humans in evaluating AI.
Build prototypes to develop high-performance AI algorithms in scalable, product-ready code.
Propose and develop new deep learning capabilities, pursuing patents where appropriate.
Stay current on state-of-the-art algorithms and competing technologies.
Contribute to the development of software and data delivery platforms with reusable components across teams.
Research and evaluate emerging technology, industry, and market trends to assist in product development and operational support.
Basic Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent field plus proven AI development experience in a commercial setting OR Ph.D. in a STEM major plus proven AI development experience.
Expertise in building large-scale AI models, including generative AI, large vision/language models, and multi-modal AI models.
Experience in large-scale training, pre-training, prompt tuning, distillation, robustness, responsible AI, and quantization.
Strong implementation experience with high-level languages (e.g., Python) and frameworks/tools such as DeepSpeed, HuggingFace, Megatron, PyTorch Lightning.
Experience with high-dimensional imaging data and waveform/time-series data.
A desire to be hands-on and help invent the future of next-gen AI in healthcare.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in a STEM major plus 5 years of experience in computer vision, machine learning, etc. Post-doctoral fellowships can substitute for industry experience if relevant.
Publication record in top conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML).
Skills to influence cross-functional teams within GE HealthCare.
Capability to handle challenges with vague or abstract problem definitions.
Strong experience with MLOps, ModelOps, and FMOps methods.
Experience with large-scale AI training and synthetic data generation.
Eligibility Requirements
Legal authorization to work in Hungary (EU) is required.
Willingness to travel for meetings, workshops, conferences, etc.
Willingness to work out of an office located in Budapest or Szeged, Hungary.
