The opportunity
The role ensures the accuracy, reliability, and usability of data products, supports compliance with regulatory requirements, and aids QBE's cloud migration and data modernisation efforts. It mitigates operational risks by implementing robust validation and automated data assurance frameworks, optimises efficiency by automating validation processes, and fosters a quality-first culture through collaboration with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders
Your new role:
The Data Product Assurance Specialist ensures the reliability, accuracy, and usability of QBE’s data products, including tables, schemas, dashboards, reports, data pipelines, and ingestion patterns. This role involves testing and validating data products from a code, data, and environments perspective to meet business, technical, and regulatory standards. By maintaining high data quality and governance standards, the specialist supports informed decision-making and business intelligence
- Design and develop data product assurance frameworks to support business unit data demands and ensure data integrity
- Evaluate and prioritise data quality issues and manage resolution processes
- Code and document new or modified data product assurance tests and validation tools to create robust and scalable processes
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including automating manual tests, optimising data validation, and re-designing data product testing frameworks for scalability.
- Perform peer reviews of validation checks and promote a quality-first culture within the data services team and support the broader testing team in various projects.
- Develop and execute data product testing solutions using Python, Databricks, Spark, and Microsoft Azure Technology Stack to ensure data consistency across multiple sources and platforms
About you
To be successful in this role you will have proven experience in data product assurance, data quality management, and solution design with demonstrated experience in leading teams of data quality and data assurance professionals, promoting a DevOps culture. Well versed in Agile working environments and capable of leading teams and working independently
- Proven experience in data product assurance, data product testing on data platforms, data quality management.
- Advanced communication skills, enabling you to articulate, present, influence, and negotiate with key stakeholders.
- Strong working knowledge of the end-to-end data product development and testing lifecycle, including unit testing, SIT, UAT support, data validation, data pipelines, ingestion patterns, and data product testing.
- Strong experience using: MS Stack – Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Power BI, and SQL.
- Experience working with MongoDB, Graph databases, and programming languages (R, Python, Spark, ETL SQL, Visual Studio), as well as CI/CD tools (e.g., Bamboo), GitHub, Jira, and Confluence.
