Job Description:UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a entry level Application Developer Analyst to join Data Platform & Analytics (DPA), a unit within UFIT.
Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other dedicated employees focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.
This is a professional level role that under direct supervision, works closely with customers, business analysts and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design to develop quality technical solutions. Has a good understanding of IT systems, development lifecycle, quality assurance/testing, and integration methodologies.
Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:
- Develop embedded analytic solutions that require front-end and integrations to the current underlying technology stack used by UFIT to provide hosting and application platforms.
- Design and implement the next generation of UFIT embedded and AI infused analytic products used by faculty, students, and staff at UF.
- Expand the current AI infused data products within DPA to include more integration with AI platforms and cloud-based data services.
- Full stack development of embedded analytic solutions leveraging LLM or other AI capabilities.
- Develop technical documentation to support the analytic solutions deployed.
- Produces data extraction processes from on-prem data sources along with data sources accessible via APIs in the cloud.
- Develop processes to extract and restructure data to support analyses conducted by the data science team. Analysis may be applied to various areas of the business (e.g., Student, Research, Faculty and Staff, Security, etc.). Develops and gains knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions.
- Participate in small to medium-sized projects to design and deploy DPA data products that require leveraging that deliver hosting services including server, storage, virtualization, database, artificial intelligence and other related systems.
- Assist in architecting and designing analytics solutions, defining enterprise standards for custom deployments, recommending new initiatives, and helping UFIT align with industry trends in best practices of application development.
- Collaborate with technical peers and be mentored by more senior level colleagues.

Full-time TEAMS employees will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.
Vacation-accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status, and are intended to give the flexibility to enable units to close from December 26 to 31, when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

Expected Salary:$80,000 – $90,000; commensurate based on education and experience
Minimum Requirements:Associates degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.
Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience but does not negate the minimum degree requirement(s).
Preferred Qualifications:The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:
· Experience with building front-end applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript
· Experience with a front-end framework like React, Vue.js, Svelte
· Experience with a back-end programming language: Python, JavaScript, Go, Java, etc.
· Experience with SQL
· Experience with TypeScript
· Experience with SvelteKit
· In depth experience with Python
· Experience with using data warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)
· Understanding of application development and SDLC
· Experience with working on a team of developers
Special Instructions to Applicants:This position requires U.S. work authorization.
This role will be based in one of our Gainesville offices and may include a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office (Wednesday required), and 2 days remote.
