First things first, let’s talk about what the Courier Group is and what our teams actually do there. 🤔 The Courier Group consists of seven amazing teams responsible for logistics and routing optimization, courier earnings, forecasting and providing top notch courier onboarding and delivery experiences. In terms of tech, modern Typescript and React are our bread and butter both in the Courier Group and across Wolt, we also use React Native in our Courier Partner application, while a big chunk of the backend is built using Python, Scala, as well as some Kotlin and even C++. We’re always improving our services and we aim for excellence, so if you would like to be surrounded by like minded people, we certainly have a lot to offer. 🚀

Depending on your interests and experience we’d love to welcome you to one of the following teams:

Fleet & Employment Team provides self-serve tools that enable fleet managers to efficiently manage their couriers while also supporting employed couriers in countries like Germany, where Wolt Couriers have an employment relationship with Wolt. Our platform allows fleet managers to handle onboarding, compliance, scheduling, payments, and performance tracking in one place, optimizing operations and reducing manual work. For employed couriers, we develop features that help manage absences, working hours, and payroll automation, improving both the courier experience and the efficiency of our delivery platform. The frontends are built in Typescript (React), while Scala is the main backend programming language of the team. Wolt has a strong community around Frontend, so there are good opportunities to collaborate and learn from others!

Courier Earnings team, as the name suggests, works on finding the best ways to fairly price tasks for our Courier Partners so that they could easily maximize their earnings using our platform as well as making sure that we calculate what our Courier Partners earned as a part of delivery tasks they performed and the time they spent on the platform. At the moment we are working on rebuilding the Courier Partner payments from the ground up on top of a new and more robust platform, which, of course needs to be reflected and accessible in the Courier App, and this is where you’d come in! The team is using Typescript (React) on the frontend and the backend is powered by Python and Scala and there are quite a few interesting tech challenges to tackle!

Supply and Demand team’s mission is to make Wolt cities efficient for consumers, merchants and couriers, as well as making running the cities smooth for our operations people. This is done by building tools and features that help achieve balance between supply (number of Courier Partners online) and demand (home delivery orders from consumers) by surfacing the forecasts to both our Courier Partners on the Courier App and and Wolt operations, as well as creating ways to dynamically influence the supply and demand. As a frontend engineer you will have a chance to work on our product from many angles: developing various features, working on the internal back office tool, implementing changes for the courier facing application, etc. The main programming languages on the team are Typescript (React), Python, and Scala and the team works closely with Data Scientists so this is a great chance to learn a lot about data science if you have a knack for it!

Courier Onboarding Team is in charge of the acquisition, discovery, onboarding and offboarding of Wolt’s Courier Partners (now over 160 000 Woltwide!). Our goal is to onboard new Courier Partners so they can start making deliveries and earning money within a few hours from signing up by creating scalable, automated solutions for, documents verification, GDPR, Inventory management, referral program, internal tooling and streamlining onboarding processes like gear pickup. Currently we’re revamping most of our systems , so it’s a great opportunity to make an impact. 

The Courier Delivery Experience Team is helping our Courier Partners with their day-to-day tasks and making their experience from logging in to logging off the best that it can be, so they can complete their deliveries in a smooth and simple way. We work on the Courier App as the core maintainers and feature drivers for the delivery tasks. You’ll be taking part in creating solutions for helping our Courier Partners optimize their time and earnings based on statistical analysis and historic data.

👉 You have solid experience using modern Typescript and React in the frontend and building solid scalable services and well-structured applications using them.

👉 If you have some React Native and app development experience (Android or iOS) on your hands - even better, we consider that a plus!

👉 You’re a dedicated person who is pragmatic with a positive attitude, who doesn't shy away from going outside of their comfort zone, and demonstrates curiosity and willingness to keep continuously learning.
