About the team: 

The Financial Risk Squad operates as part of the Second Line of Defense, providing independent oversight, review, and challenge of the risk-taking activities managed by the First Line of Defense, which includes Treasury and other business areas responsible for executing financial strategies.

We are looking for a Market, Liquidity & Capital Risk Specialist to strengthen our risk management framework by providing expert analysis and oversight of market, liquidity, and capital risks. This role will play a key part in ensuring adherence to Mexican regulatory requirements (SOFIPO & Banking frameworks) while aligning with international best practices, including Basel II & III. The ideal candidate will support the development and enhancement of risk controls, contributing to a robust and forward-thinking risk management culture.

Typical responsibilities assigned to you might include:

Market Risk Management

  • Oversee and execute the monitoring of VaR, DV01, and IRRBB, ensuring exposures are within risk appetite.
  • Conduct independent analysis of market risk exposures, with a focus on interest rate, foreign exchange, and funding-related transactions
  • Support the implementation of interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB) frameworks and methodologies.

Liquidity Risk Management

  • Monitor and assess regulatory liquidity metrics (CCL, CFEN) and global standards (LCR, NSFR).
  • Contribute to stress testing exercises and ensure liquidity buffers align with regulatory expectations.
  • Assist in evaluating funding strategies and potential liquidity risks.

Capital Risk Oversight

  • Track and analyze NICAP & ICAP ratios, ensuring compliance with capital requirements.
  • Provide insight into capital planning and its impact on risk metrics.
  • Support scenario analysis related to capital stress testing.

Regulatory & Governance Compliance

  • Ensure alignment with Mexican banking regulations and international risk standards.
  • Assist in governance reporting for RiskCo, ALCO, and regulatory bodies.
  • Support internal discussions on risk appetite, policy development, and regulatory changes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in Market, Liquidity, or Capital Risk Management.
  • Knowledge of Mexican banking regulations (SOFIPO & Banking) and international frameworks (LCR, NSFR).
  • Strong understanding of VaR, DV01, IRRBB, liquidity ratios (CCL, CFEN, LCR, NSFR), and capital metrics (NICAP, ICAP).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English & Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (Finance, Risk, Economics) is a plus.
  • Experience in risk management within a regulated financial institution (Bank or SOFIPO).
  • Exposure to capital planning and liquidity stress testing methodologies.

Good coding skills (SQL, Python, Scala, or other similar programming languages), have experience with large amounts of dataGreat toolbox of modeling or Machine Learning techniques
