We are currently seeking a full-time Product Data Specialist in our West Jordan, UT location!


The Product Data Specialist is responsible for overseeing the management, organization, analyzing and optimization, and accuracy of part number data within the company’s systems and tools. This role ensures that all part numbers are properly assigned, released and usable across various platforms, tracked and updated to facilitate smooth procurement, manufacturing, production and engineering change order processes. The Product Data Specialist works closely with various departments, including procurement, inventory management, engineering, and logistics, to ensure the consistency and integrity of part number data across the organization. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a thorough understanding of part numbering systems, industry standards and best practices, and inventory management software. 

 

Duties Include:

  • Review and assign part numbers to products, components, and materials, ensuring alignment with internal numbering conventions and industry standards.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of product descriptions, specifications, pricing, categorization and any other relevant data across all systems and tools.
  • Regularly update and manage part number databases to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and inventory teams to resolve any discrepancies or issues and maintain accurate records.
  • Develop, implement and enforce part numbering policies and procedures to ensure consistency and avoid duplication.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of product catalogs, ensuring part numbers are correctly linked to product descriptions, specifications, and other relevant data.
  • Support the product lifecycle management process, ensuring that part numbers are accurately tracked through all stages, from development to obsolescence.
  • Conduct regular data audits and analyze part numbers to identify and correct inconsistencies, identify trends and recommend process improvements.
  • Train and support staff on part numbering best practices and system usage.
  • Generate reports and perform audits to ensure part number data integrity and compliance.

 

Requirements
  • Proven experience working with part numbers in an inventory management or supply chain role.
  • Strong knowledge of part numbering systems, conventions, and industry standards (e.g., UNSPSC, OEM or ISO standards).
  • Excellent problem-Solving skills with experience in process improvement and workflow optimization.
  • Proficiency in data management including organizing, validating, and managing large sets of data.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, inventory management software, product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and data entry tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to identify and resolve data inconsistencies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to solve issues.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends or discrepancies in part number data.
  • Effective communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong typing skills, with a minimum of 50-70 words per minute to effectively manage and update large datasets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (preferred), or equivalent experience.
