Responsibilities

The Actuarial Analyst is responsible for supporting pricing, reserving, and modeling activities. This role involves leading projects, recommending enhancements to actuarial processes, and identifying changing market conditions. The objective is to maximize the Actuarial function's contribution to the company's financial success. The Actuarial Analyst supports the VP, Actuary by performing reviews, collaborating with various departments, and conducting due diligence for report and model updates as well as new products.

  • Aggregate and summarize monthly rate achievement metrics.
  • Document and monitor unusual changes in premium, loss, and loss expenses.
  • Assist in completing quarterly loss reserve studies, rate making, and profitability studies.
  • Support Finance with general ledger and Schedule P reconciliation.
  • Identify and monitor premium and loss trends.
  • Evaluate the reliability and integrity of source information and organize data for efficient use.
  • Maintain necessary data to support actuarial functions.
  • Provide ad hoc support to other employees as directed by the VP, Actuary.
  • Communicate effectively through reports, emails, and meetings.
  • Discuss insurance, financial, and actuarial issues with management.
  • Document analytical and evaluative processes related to actuarial work.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and adapt to changing priorities.

Qualifications

 

  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Progress towards Casualty Actuarial Society designation is a plus.
  • Strong PC skills, especially in MS Excel.
  • Understanding of applicat
  • Four-year college degree, preferably in area of Actuarial,
  • ions and development using Visual Basic, SQL, R, Python, Power BI, Tableau is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate technical details to non-technical audiences.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Proactive in communicating with stakeholders

Education 

  • Four-year college degree, preferably in area of Actuarial, Mathematics or Statistics.
