General Notes

Reporting to the Data Business Partner (DBP) for the VP/CFO, provide business leaders with direction as a Sr. Data Analytics Engineer and finance subject matter expert. Your primary object is to deliver sustainable, accurate, and automated analytics including data modeling, data analytics, and business reporting visualizations. You’ll collaborate with leaders, IT functional teams, primary business stakeholders, and downstream data consumers to remove barriers, solve complex data challenges, and ultimately deliver on your primary objective.

You will assist and advise your engineering counterparts to build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using industry leading ‘big data’ technologies. You’ll build automated foundational data processes, integrating data quality monitoring and alert systems while integrating large, complex data sets that meet business requirements. You lead the development and refinement of Financial Data Models and forecasts as well as drive operational efficiency and optimization with the use of automation and AI.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and engineering Data Models to deliver on expected business outcomes.
  • Developing and publishing PowerBI reports along with supporting documentation and training to support business continuances.
  • Supporting financial analytic requirements and requests as needed. The presenting findings to leadership and other business constituencies. Examples include forecast models and predictive analytics.
  • Collaborate with Business SMEs, FAPA Team, and other data teams at UT Austin to create data standards, improve data integrity, and produce sustainable, repeatable outcomes.
  • Project Management of owned reporting and analytic outcomes.
  • Additional duties as required to deliver on overall expected outcomes for FAPA team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance & accounting or other quantitative type degree or at least 10 years of professional experience in financial analytics with Power BI.
  • Demonstrated passion for using data to answer questions and solve problems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Fabric with Power BI, and Microsoft SQL Server or Azure to query large databases, manipulate and validate
    data, implement business logic, and analyze data.
  • Excellent knowledge of databases, data flows, and data manipulation in both operational and analytical contexts.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex and/or ambiguous information from multiple sources using a variety of tools.
  • Extensive experience and training in systems conceptualization, analysis, design, and implementation

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • R or Python, Amazon Redshift, Greenplum, and/or PostgreSQL environments. Expert at data analytics and data modeling for the purposes of scaling and supporting business intelligence and analytical needs.
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerBI/IBM Cognos/Tableau or other data visualization tools.
  • Experience in higher education administration, programming, or analysis. Knowledge of federal education law and policies related to education records.

Salary Range

145,000/yr
