Summary of Job Duties:
The Data Analyst at the UAMS Institute for Community Health Innovation will carry out data collection, management, analysis, and quality control activities for various community-based research studies and program evaluations. This position will be responsible for survey instrument development, data collection, data management, data analysis, quality control, process improvement, and generation of reports and academic papers. The Data Analyst will build instruments/projects in REDCap and manage the data requirements of research studies and community program evaluations. The Data Analyst will follow standard operating procedures and ensure all study protocols are followed as designed. The Data Analyst will provide support in writing, editing, evaluation, and documentation of work performed, consistent with the requirements of the funding agencies.Tiered Positions:
Associate Data Analyst:
• Entry-level position focusing on data collection, management, and basic analysis.
• Will work closely with senior team members to learn and develop skills.
Intermediate Data Analyst:
• Increased scope of work including input into planning and carrying out data-related activities.
• Moderate level of independence given skills and experience.
• May provide day-to-day oversight for other staff (e.g., Research Assistants and interns).
Senior Data Analyst:
• Lead data-related activities including independently drafting evaluation plans, building advanced REDCap projects, and conducting more advanced analyses.
• High level of independence given advanced skills and experience.
• Provide day-to-day oversight for additional staff and may serve as team lead.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate Data Analyst:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, or other research-related
- Basic level of knowledge of research methods and/or program evaluation methods
Intermediate Data Analyst:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, or other research-related field plus 3 years of research, program evaluation, academic writing, data analysis, and/or data management experience
- Intermediate level of knowledge of research methods and/or program evaluation methods
Senior Data Analyst:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, or other research-related field plus 5 years of research, program evaluation, academic writing, data analysis, and/or data management experience
- Advanced level of knowledge of research methods and/or program evaluation methods
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge and skill with statistical package(s) (e.g., Stata, R, SAS)
- Knowledge and skill with Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge and skill with word processing and email computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook)
- Ability to understand and analyze complex human subjects research issues
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to communicate with others verbally and/or in writing
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of private health data
- Commitment to data accuracy and quality control
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience in a public health research setting or a community-based research setting
