About the role
We have an exciting transformation journey ahead as we re-imagine the delivery of legal services for our clients. A key project within our program is the design and implementation of a new Legal Services Platform. We are now looking for a Data Product Lead to join our project team, and help us to enable firm-wide data-driven decision making through improved analytics. You’ll be working with a cross-functional team of product managers, business SMEs, solution architects, engineers, marketers and others who are passionate about client and employee experience, and about collectively achieving our shared objectives.
This is a unique opportunity to join the project team at its early stage, become a subject matter expert in a new modern platform and help us carve out a path to remarkable project success. You’ll be involved in the whole project lifecycle: from design, build and launch, through to run and optimise cycles. Your ambition will be to quickly develop a reputation as Maurice Blackburn’s data expert. You’ll strive to learn our data ecosystem inside out, and bring modern data practices and innovative thinking to our project and operational teams.
The key responsibilities include:
- Work with business stakeholders, data and IT team members to identify data and reporting requirements, and develop data-related user stories
- Design and develop user-friendly dashboards and reports that track operational and financial metrics
- Use data analysis tools and techniques to optimise business processes and performance
- Communicate your analysis, insights, and recommendations to non-technical audiences, both verbally and in written form
- Promote and support best practice data management, including policies and practices to promote data governance, data quality and master/reference data management
- Be adept at conceptual data modelling, and support the development of a future-fit enterprise data model
- Support project data cleansing and migration activities as required
- Manage the backlog of new and improved report requests as the project evolves
You’ll be great in this role if you are:
- Proficient in tools such as Power BI, Qlik and SQL and other database languages such as Python, SAS. Understanding of data architecture.
- Solid understanding of project management methodologies including Agile and Waterfall
- Passionate about staying abreast of trends and best practices in the data and analytics space
- Passionate about the art of story-telling with data – the importance of user-centric visualisations and narratives
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Energy and tenacity to help us uplift data literacy and data governance practices, and drive the ‘data as an asset’ mindset across the organisation
- Flexibility to support a broad range of data and process-related project activities – not afraid to roll up sleeves on a range of tasks
- Strong organisational and time management skills
