Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and consult on the bank’s internal controls framework and supporting policies and standards across the organisation, ensuring it is robust, effective, and aligned to the bank’s overall strategy and risk appetite.  

Accountabilities

  • Identification and analysis of emerging and evolving risks across functions to understand their potential impact, and likelihood.
  • Communication of the purpose, structure, and importance of the control framework to all relevant stakeholders, including senior management and audit.
  • Support to the development and implementation of the bank's internal controls framework and principles tailored to the banks specific needs and risk profile including design, monitoring, and reporting initiatives  .
  • Monitoring and maintenance of the control's frameworks, to ensure compliance and adjust and update as internal and external requirements change.
  • Embedment of the control framework across the bank through cross collaboration, training sessions and awareness campaigns which fosters a culture of knowledge sharing and improvement in risk management and the importance of internal control effectiveness.

Step into the role of a Vice President – Data Insights and Reporting role within Barclays' Office of the Legal Obligations (OLO) team function is crucial for maintaining and enhancing data insights and reporting to meet business needs and regulatory requirements. Your role involves partnering with various business functions globally, especially control and risk committees, to deliver valuable data insights, trends, and themes from structured and unstructured data. As vice president you will collaborate with stakeholders across compliance, legal, data privacy, fraud, security, and other areas to produce and publish data insights, ensuring data integrity and security. Key responsibilities include strategic leadership, data governance, stakeholder collaboration, advanced analytics, and delivering best-in-class insights for informed decision-making. Your role also involves managing stakeholder relationships, participating in governance forums, and overseeing risk and control objectives. Personal attributes required include strong leadership, collaboration, and strategic thinking skills.

To be successful as a Vice President – Data Insights and Reporting, you should have experience with:

  • Graduate in any discipline
  • Proficient in Data Analytics and Insights (Python, Tableau, Tableau Prep, Power Apps, Alteryx)
  • Experience with databases and data science/analytics tools (SQL, AI, ML on live projects)
  • Proficient in MS Office (PPT, Excel, Word, Visio, Power Apps)
  • Understanding of Risk, Governance, and Control Frameworks
  • Experience in Controls, Governance, Reporting, and Risk Management (preferably in financial services)
  • Knowledge of Data Management Principles and Data Governance (including BCBS 239)
  • Experience in database design and maintenance
  • Proficient in MI Reporting and Visualization tools (Tableau); automation tools (Alteryx)
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and collaborate to identify issues and develop solutions
  • Understanding of effective control environment, enterprise risk management, operational risk frameworks
  • Experience in risk reporting, regulatory reporting, controls reporting (preferably in financial services/banking)
  • Extensive stakeholder management experience across geographies and cultures
  • Experience in risk and control roles in major banking/financial services organizations
  • Understanding and experience with MI & Reporting (preferably within Operational Risk)
  • Excellent communication skills for complex issues in business and technical language (verbal and written)

  • Experience in Data Crunching/Analysis
  • Proficient in data analytics using various tools and practices, including Natural Language Processing (NLP) and other DA techniques
  • Financial Services experience
  • Strong understanding of data management and BCBS 239 reporting principles
  • Self-starter with ownership of delivery, able to monitor/report progress to completion
  • Ability to articulate impacts of scenario analysis and propose solutions/recommendations
  • Challenges the status quo by identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing control best practices across in-scope business areas
