About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Data Governance Analyst to join our team with a primary focus on remediation of Data Quality issues. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough root cause analysis, linking data issues to systems and business processes, and effectively communicating these relationships and the impacts to stakeholders at all levels.
The Data Governance Analyst will play a critical role in partnering with stakeholders, securing commitment from system and process owners to implement necessary improvements and controls to mitigate identified risks and issues.
This role requires a highly analytical mindset, advocacy for change, comfort with ambiguity, and adaptability to pivot and deliver in alignment with an evolving business environment.

What will your day look like?
As a Data Governance Analyst, you will be accountable for:

Conduct root cause analysis to identify and remediate data quality issues.

Support data mapping, cataloguing, and addressing data quality issues.
-
Source and analyse data to identify and resolve data quality issues.
-
Collaborate with teams to deliver high-quality data outcomes.
-
Work collaboratively across divisions and with partners.
-
Partner with system and process owners to implement necessary modifications.
-
Prepare and deliver presentations on findings and recommendations.
-
Ensure data management practices meet obligations and achieve business outcomes.
-
Address complex business issues using structured and unstructured data.
-
Maintain robust data quality, reference, and master data practices.
-
Deliver against milestones and address constraints.
-
Uphold ANZ's core values in all interactions.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

Broad understanding of compliance, operational risk, data quality, and privacy management.

Ability to design and implement effective risk controls.

Proficient in SQL and data analysis techniques.

Experience in data analysis, modelling, architecture, and engineering.

Ability to challenge and reframe data management approaches.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, presentation, and communication skills.
-
Highly collaborative with strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
-
Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills.
-
Banking industry background (preferred).
-
Frontline and operational process knowledge (preferred).
-
Experience with data management capabilities (metadata, data lineage, simplification, asset definition, accountability, data lifecycle).
