As the Lead Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within our Software Engineering team. You will drive the technical direction of our software development initiatives. You will also provide strategic guidance to the team by designing, building, and maintaining enterprise automation. You will focus on full-stack applications and AI-powered toolsets to achieve overall operational efficiency within our Contact Centre. You will report directly to the Head of Engineering & Platform Solutions.

Location: Paarl (Negotiable) & predominantly Office-Based 

Hours: 40 (per week)

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like:

💻You will work closely with stakeholders, including operations, product teams, and leadership, to align development initiatives with business objectives. You will define and execute the technical roadmap, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability of enterprise systems.

You will drive best practices in coding, security, and system architecture through design, development, and optimizing relational databases, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval. You will also query performance tuning, indexing strategies, and database scalability and ensure data integrity, security, and compliance standards are adhered to. You will lead, mentor, and inspire a team of software engineers, fostering a high-performance engineering culture.

You will also conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and ensure adherence to best practices, and I enable continuous learning within the team, ensuring upskilling in emerging technologies relevant to BPO automation. You will collaborate closely with the DevOps teams to enhance CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and system reliability. You will also troubleshoot complex technical challenges and drive root-cause analysis for any system issues. You will also optimize system performance, scalability, and security across all software solutions, and stay ahead of industry trends.

Requirements:

• You are an existing Lead Software Engineer with a minimum of 3 years experience in leading software development teams while remaining hands-on with coding. (Essential)
• You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Python, GO, or C# .NET for backend and full-stack development. (Essential)
• You have Matric and relevant certifications/ tertiary qualification in Software Engineering
• You are highly proficient in database design, and performance tuning (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• I have a solid understanding of building and integrating enterprise automation, CRM, and AI-driven solutions.
• You are proficient in LLMs (Large Language Models) and generative AI applications, such as OpenAI’s GPT, Azure OpenAI, Google’s Gemini, and others.
• You have proficient experience in designing scalable cloud-based architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• You have a solid understanding of API development, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• You are familiar with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
