Company Description

MET International AG (METI) was established in 2010 in order to consolidate and develop MET Group’s international natural gas sales and purchase portfolio, as well as to establish a trading arm for commodity lines. 

METI is responsible for providing highly competitive supply structures to its gas and power sales affiliates, optimizing its power generation assets, managing the LNG portfolio, and trading around international positions.

As a Power Structured Trader with a focus on but not limited to Turkey, you will play a pivotal role in designing, pricing, and executing structured energy deals tailored to these markets. This position demands a deep understanding of local market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and customer needs, as well as the ability to collaborate with internal teams in MET Group.

Job Description

 

  • Develop and execute structured trading strategies in the Turkish power markets
  • Design, price, and execute structured products, including PPAs, cross-border capacity acquisition and trading,  and end customer supply sourcing sturctures
  • Collaborate with local MET Turkey origination and trading teams to deliver tailored solutions for clients in Turkey
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of market fundamentals, price drivers, and interconnector flows within the region
  • Work closely with risk management, analytics, and data science teams to optimize portfolio performance
  • Work within the power desk (quants, fundamental analysts, structururers, traders) to build a Turkey (and other surrounding non-SDAC) forward market curve that can be effectively used for market making and liquidity generation for flows
  • Monitor and adapt to changes in market regulations and policies affecting Turkey
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with market participants, regulators, and stakeholders to stay informed of market developments

Qualifications

 

 

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in power or structured trading. At least 3 years of activityin Turkey power markets is a must. Additional European energy markets experience is advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of market fundamentals, trading platforms, and financial instruments in the energy sector.
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills, with experience in programming languages like Python, R, or MATLAB being advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute profitable trading strategies in a complex and competitive market.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills to interact effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on innovation and results
