About the Team
Our Platform Engineering team is responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure that powers Lotlinx's applications and services. We are a small, dynamic team of two (soon to be three!) passionate engineers dedicated to implementing best practices in cloud-native technologies and ensuring a reliable and scalable platform. We believe in collaboration, continuous learning, and empowering developers to deliver exceptional products.
Role Overview
We're seeking a skilled and experienced Cloud Database Engineer to join our growing Platform Engineering team. You will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing our cloud database infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. You will also contribute to the broader platform engineering efforts, leveraging your expertise in cloud-native technologies.
Responsibilities
- Cloud Database Management
- Design, deploy, and manage cloud database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL, or similar).
- Optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing, and resource allocation.
- Implement and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Ensure database security, including access control, encryption, and vulnerability management.
- Monitor database health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Automate database provisioning, configuration, and maintenance tasks.
- Cloud-Native Technologies
- Work with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of our CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with developers to integrate database solutions into cloud-native applications.
- Participate in the design and implementation of scalable and resilient microservices architectures.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with developers, operations, and other stakeholders to understand database requirements.
- Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure platform availability.
- Share knowledge and mentor other team members.
Qualifications
- Required
- Proven experience in managing cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Apache Pinot, Google Cloud SQL).
- Strong understanding of database concepts, including relational databases, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with Database Monitoring tools.
- Preferred
- Experience with specific database technologies (e.g., MySQL, Apache Pinot).
- Experience with specific in memory cache technologies (e.g., Redis).
- Experience with cloud-native observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, LGTM stack).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Cloud certifications (AWS Certified Database - Specialty, etc)
The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000.
