The Director of Analytics will be responsible for spearheading the company’s data strategy by overseeing a talented team of analysts. You will drive the development and execution of analytics initiatives, ensuring that our tools and methodologies are leveraged to their fullest potential. This role will bridge the gap between technical expertise and business insights, reporting directly to the VP of Analytics, and will play a critical role in shaping the future of data-driven decision-making at Fanatics Live, Fanatics Collect and topps.com.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing analytics team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the team, ensuring projects are delivered on time and aligned with strategic business objectives.
Strategic Analytics Direction:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive analytics strategy in collaboration with senior leadership, aligning with the overall business vision.
- Identify and prioritize key business areas where advanced analytics and machine learning can drive significant value.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary analytics liaison for multiple business units, ensuring clear communication of insights and aligning analytics projects with business needs.
- Present complex data findings and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders in an easily digestible manner.
Quality & Best Practices:
- Ensure data integrity and quality across all analytics processes.
- Establish and enforce best practices in data governance, documentation, and project management.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance the analytics function.
- Evaluate new analytics tools and methodologies, driving innovation within the team.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data science roles.
- 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role overseeing an analytics team.
- Demonstrable experience in the technology industry is a plus.
Technical Proficiency:
- Expert-level SQL skills.
- Proven experience with data warehousing in Snowflake, data transformation with dbt, and data visualization (e.g. Sigma Computing, Tableau, or Looker)
- Proficiency in advanced analytics.
- Strong coding skills in Python or R.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate across departments.
- Strong project management skills with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with agile analytics methodologies.
- Certification in data science, analytics, or related fields.
- Familiarity with additional data visualization tools and emerging analytics platforms.
In Los Angeles, the salary range for this position is $192,000-$240,000. In NYC, the salary range for this position is $212,000-$265,000, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. The listed salary ranges are specific to Los Angeles or NYC and may not be applicable to other locations. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
