Staff C++ Software Engineer - Robot Link Platform

The Robot Link Platform team is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to design, build and optimize middleware components on our Robot. The team is critical in enabling a successful driverless robotaxi service, operating at the intersection of Robot software and cloud services/front-end tools for fleet management, telemetry and rider support. Team members have diverse skill sets, high cross-functional interaction, and are uniquely positioned to interface with all aspects of Robot and service enablement.
As an engineer on this team, you will help design, build and optimize critical middleware components and network stack that ensure reliable, mission-critical robot-cloud communication over cellular and cloud networks. This role is concerned about the performance, reliability, safety, privacy, security and observability of the involved services in this link.

In this role, you will:

• Own key software components from design to delivery. Write clear, testable, modular and maintainable code. 
• Triage and troubleshoot issues spanning various middleware, network stacks, firmware.
• Define and implement key metrics to measure/monitor performance and reliability of the end-to-end solution across networks and software services
• Contribute to long term architecture, technology initiatives and technical roadmap
• Work cross functionally with diverse engineering teams, Product and Program Management for successful delivery of solutions

Qualifications

• BS / MS in Computer Science or similar degree and/or 7+ years of relevant experience
• Proficient in developing C++ software/middleware for Linux or other operating systems
• Strong expertise in networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP)
• Experience working with cellular connectivity, network stacks
• Excellent problem solving and debugging skills

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Data Distribution Service (DDS), Robot Operating System (ROS)
• Experience with debug tools, packet sniffers, protocol and network analyzers
• Experience with Cloud infrastructure and tooling, such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Compensation:There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $217,000 to $309,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position. Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.
