The role

Proxymity is looking for an experienced Engineering Team Lead to help drive the delivery of our next generation data infrastructure and monetise Proxymity’s unique data universe.

As the Analytics & Data Engineering Team Lead, you will guide a team of Data Engineers and Data Analysts, providing technical leadership, fostering collaboration, and ensuring timely delivery of key projects. You will also offer clear technical direction that aligns with Proxymity’s long-term data infrastructure strategy.

Working closely with our Product team, the Analytics & Data Engineering Team Lead will also help shape the Analytics and Reporting roadmap and identify technologies and techniques to improve how we deliver initiatives and insights effectively.

You will collaborate with other Engineering Team Leads and Engineering Directors to contribute to Proxymity’s broader technical strategy and ensure alignment across teams. This role requires hands-on experience in AWS-based data infrastructure and modern data modelling tools, as well as the ability to engage in detailed technical discussions with engineers across different teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience as Analytics & Data Engineering Team Lead or similar role that encompasses leadership of both data engineering and data analytics teams.
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills; Can form effective, supportive relationships with colleagues across the business and demonstrates a “problem solving” rather than a “problem watching” approach to challenges.
  • Experience in managing predictable delivery through effective forward planning, ensuring initiatives meet expected timelines while managing risks.
  • Technical leadership experience; able to clearly articulate technical decisions to other directors and engineers across the business.
  • Passionate about developing people; Invest their own time into the personal development of their team members and cares deeply about the continual improvement of their team’s productivity and capabilities.
  • Proficiency in AWS-based data solutions, including pipelines and data warehouses/lakes. Experience with DBT or similar data modelling tools and strong SQL skills, including query optimization.
  • Broad experience of data analytics and reporting platforms for a large and diverse user base; Experience of Looker, Power BI or Tableau as well as experience of developing a self-service reporting solution.
  • Has hands on experience of a modern programming language (Python, Java, etc.).
