The Billing and Credit function is part of the Group Finance and Corporate division which is responsible for the overall management of Billing and Credit Management across Optus. This includes credit and fraud risk assessment, collections and recoveries, and billing and payments. As part of this high performing Billing and Credit team, you will live their vision – We onboard and retain our customers efficiently whilst delivering timely, simple, accurate billing and payments experience.
Your day in the life of a Senior Data Scientist at Optus

Lead delivery of all advance scientific data models and analytics responsible for all Credit and Fraud Risk decisions across Optus Group – including but not limited to payment fraud, device intelligence, network fraud analytics, policy and scorecard updates.

Lead the design and strategy changes responsible for managing over 3m applications per year through automated systems decisions within SLA

Plan and track the key priorities for Group Credit and Finance group to meeting annual goals

Partner with all relevant senior stakeholders to deliver improved financial performance across Optus Group

Translate complex analysis into easily understood concepts and reporting for stakeholders
Your skills to pay the bills
-
Experience in a Finance/Data science role with a specialisation in data modelling and a demonstrated ability to execute data processing tasks, including auditing, preparation, transformation and aggregation using “Databricks”, “SQL” & “Python” or “R”

Demonstrated ability to lead the development and deployment of machine learning models and ensuring models deployed continue to meet business requirements

A background in a Credit, Fraud and Collections environment is highly desirable and you will have solid experience with analytical problem solving and possess the following proven skills

Ability to work in an environment with constant change and diverse challenges in a highly competitive market

BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Analytics, or equivalent applied quantitative field
