Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role the Executive Director of Machine Learning will be responsible for:
AI Solutions, Scale & Delivery: Lead the development and delivery of new enterprise AI Solutions. Enable the scale of AI solutions developed across the organization through reusable, scalable foundational technology stack. Champion the use of software engineering best practices to support machine learning systems engineering and infrastructure.
AI, Data Science and Decision-Making Enablement: Enable the development of advanced AI models and systems that unlock new value, enhance decision-making, ensuring the organization's infrastructure and technology are primed for AI integration.
Ethics & Compliance: Uphold the highest standards of ethics and compliance, ensuring that all AI solutions are developed and deployed responsibly.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication: Foster collaboration across departments to ensure AI strategies are integrated and aligned with the broader organizational goals.
Scalable Solutions for Enterprise-wide Impact: Architect and maintain scalable AI solutions. Ensure the technology stack can adapt to growing data volumes and computational needs, enabling AI initiatives to scale efficiently and deliver tangible business outcomes.
Technology Stack Enhancement: Guide the selection and integration of a modern and versatile technology stack that supports the seamless development of AI solutions. Focus on creating a cohesive ecosystem of tools and platforms that enable data scientists and AI engineers to efficiently build, train, and deploy models.
Additional responsibilities include:
Lead cross-functional teams in the pursuit of innovation and excellence in AI
Attract, develop, and retain top talent in the field of artificial intelligence
Support key talent initiatives, including diversity, inclusion, and belonging programs, along with talent development and internship opportunities
Budget and resource management - Manage and allocate budgets for AI/ML initiatives and tools. Approve resource allocation for AI/ML projects
Decide when to outsource versus build AI/ML solutions in-house
Span to start with 30 and grow up to 60 (estimates)
Define and execute the organization's AI/ML strategy aligned with business objectives
Establish the roadmap for AI/ML initiatives across various departments
Decide on AI/ML tools, platforms, and partnerships
Standardize methodologies for AI/ML model development, deployment, and maintenance
Define governance, ethical frameworks, and compliance standards for AI/ML
Establish KPIs for AI/ML impact and evaluate outcomes
Select and manage relationships with AI/ML vendors and consultants

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree & 6 years Machine Learning experience OR
Master’s degree & 10 years of Machine Learning experience OR
Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of Machine Learning experience AND
6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in AI, machine learning, data science, or a related field
Experience leading the development and deployment of AI solutions at scale
Expertise in modern AI technologies, platforms, and best practices in software engineering
Experience building Reinforcement Learning systems at scale, preferably involving Human Feedback (RLHF)
Experience with ML Ops
Familiarity with UX design principles, user research, and incorporating human factors into technology solutions
Leadership skills with the ability to inspire teams and drive technological and business innovation
Executive communication and collaboration skills to effectively engage with stakeholders across all levels of the organization
Master’s or above in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field is preferred
