We are looking for an intern to join the InfoSec group. Reporting to the Manager, Information Security Governance, Risk, and Compliance, the intern will work closely with various internal partners to support the day-to-day activities of the department. You will be mentored by our managers and analysts who will guide you throughout your internship to help you acquire practical and theoretical skills in this field.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Dashboard development and customization: Collaborate with the security team to determine reporting requirements for monitoring security metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). Develop visually clear and concise interactive dashboards using business intelligence tools like Looker Studio.
Security tools integration: Integrate security tools and systems with dashboarding platforms to streamline data collection and visualization. This may involve working with APIs or custom connectors to pull data from tools like SOAR/SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and other systems.
Programming and scripting: Utilize programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or SQL to automate repetitive tasks, develop custom tools, and enhance existing security solutions.
Data analysis: Identify trends, anomalies, and improvement areas based on data analysis processed from various sources such as security logs, vulnerability scans, and incident reports.
Documentation and training: Document the development process, data sources, and dashboard configurations for future reference. Provide training and support to help users effectively navigate and interpret information presented in the dashboards.
Compliance monitoring and tracking: Assist in compliance oversight by implementing tools or systems to automate tracking processes for regulatory requirements, internal policies, and contractual obligations.
Vulnerability management: identify and assess the risks associated with various threats and vulnerabilities listed in different frameworks (OWASP, CISA KEV, CVSS) framework. Understand findings in penetration test reports (an asset).
Empowers collaboration with other information security teams and Cogeco Business Units.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
You are able to work independently on a daily basis.
You are rigorous in your work and have strong writing skills.
You are a team player and enjoy collaborating with others.
Fluency in spoken and written French and English is preferred, as Cogeco operates in both Quebec and Ontario.
ACADEMIC TRAINING
Studying Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a full-time internship opportunity, with the internship lasting 8-10 months. During this period, you will have the chance to gain valuable hands-on experience while contributing to key projects within our team.
