As an actuary at AIG, you will be challenged and encouraged to reach your greatest potential. Every day will bring new opportunities to stretch your analytical and problem- solving skills as you improve how we predict and mitigate risk. Our Financial Actuaries are on the frontlines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance and reserving losses for AIG’s major regulated and rated insurance operating companies globally. Portfolio Analytics and Pricing Actuaries support AIG’s businesses and are responsible for technical pricing, product development analytics and performance measurement. They collaborate with Marketing, Operations and Financial Management.
How you will create an impact
- Support building the rating tools for global implementation.
- Identify rating tool implementation issues and evaluate options to solve roadblocks.
- Perform regression testing of tool modifications to identify bugs, errors and other rating tool issues for corrections while providing input on prioritization.
- Generate and analyze tool results including bound ratios and other quote statistics
- Contribute as needed to the development and maintenance of global best practices, methodological guidance, and standard rating tools and templates.
- Interact with Data Analysis and Analytics staff to provide input on the gathering of data to support actuarial analysis.
- Support the senior actuary in reviewing actuarial assumptions, rate development and P&L profitability of Field referrals as directed for new business and large cases.
- Participate in reviews of the P&L on existing rate structures and modify where necessary to achieve desired profitability goals.
Assist regional staff as needed to fulfill priorities and meet deadlines.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Undergraduate degree from accredited college or university.
- Currently actively pursuing actuarial credentials.
- At least three years experience in a Property Casualty or Life Insurance Company. Pricing and Accident and Health experience preferred.
- Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and to deliver results.
- Ability to work independently, reach decisions and make clear recommendations for approval.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to Business partners to enhance their decision-making ability
- Proven problem solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, VBA, Python, or R is required
