Commercial Analytics Senior Associate

What you will do

The Global Commercial Insights team at Amgen plays a pivotal role as a strategic partner to Global Commercial leadership, offering data-backed insights crucial for driving global commercial strategy. As a Global Insights Senior Associate, you will support development of global analytical tools and capabilities that enable Global Insights teams to leverage secondary data to derive insights and help accelerate business decisions to support products and pipeline assets across therapy areas. Additionally, you will assist in landscape research across therapy areas and disease states to support global commercial deliverables including brand planning, opportunity assessments, global performance tracking, etc.

The individual in this role must be willing to solve ambiguous problems by leveraging both technical and consultative skills sets 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design, implement, and optimize global analytical tools and frameworks that enable Global Insights teams to extract insights from secondary data, supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Build secondary data analytics toolbox to train and guide the Global Insights teams to efficiently use secondary data for insights generation for several global commercial deliverables.
  • Build ETL processes (Extract, Transform, & Load) for several data sources, analyze patterns and trends, and develop data models to support business needs.
  • Design systems for data storage, processing, and integration while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Design, build, and maintain interactive Tableau/Power BI reports & dashboards with AI-driven analytics, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
  • Ensure clear documentation for reports, dashboards, caveats, and processes for long-term usability.
  • Explore new data sources, methodologies, and visualization techniques (including AI-based techniques and methodologies) to enhance insights generation and increase the impact of secondary analytics in decision-making influencing global commercial strategy across portfolio.
  • Utilize syndicated and real-world data sources (e.g., IQVIA, claims data, epidemiology data) to generate dashboards for key metrics across diseases.
  • Conduct landscape assessments across multiple therapy areas and disease states, identifying key market trends and unmet needs to support global commercial deliverables.
  • Set priorities, develop and manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously.

Proven experience and skills needed:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Pharma/Biotech analytics, reporting, data engineering, data science and / or business analysis experience
  • OR Master’s degree and 3 years of analytics, reporting, data engineering, data science and / or business analysis experience
  • OR Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of analytics, reporting, data engineering, data science and / or business analysis experience
  • University Degree in data science, commerce, finance, economics, mathematics, healthcare or related field.
  • Fluency in English, both in written and oral communication.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint knowledge

Preferred Requirements:

  • Familiarity with technologies and applications, and hands-on experience to analyze, synthesize, and integrate various secondary data
  • Knowledge in data, analytics, research, and/or dashboarding & reporting approach
  • Experience with commonly used biopharmaceutical industry secondary datasets and databases
  • A keen eye for design, with the ability to develop compelling Power BI and Tableau dashboards
  • Ability to write and execute SQL queries to extract and manipulate data
  • Skilled in tools like Tableau, Python, and PowerBI
  • Knowledge of AI and ability to integrate AI-based solutions in workflow / dashboard / tools / analytics
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Knowledge of modern cloud-based warehouse technologies such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift is preferred
  • Ability to drive implementation to enhance methodologies and standard processes in secondary data analytics
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills, with ability to explain complex concepts verbally or visually via PowerPoint / Excel
  • Evident project management skills—able to manage multiple, simultaneous projects and data sources
  • Understanding of the Bio-Pharmaceutical and biotech industry trends and operations
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment
