About our candidate:

We are looking for a solutions-oriented Business Intelligence Engineer (BI Engineer) who thrives in ambiguity, takes full ownership of their domain, and proactively drives initiatives. This role is not about taking orders but about identifying opportunities, solving complex problems, and leveraging data to unlock marketplace growth. As part of our Business Analytics Department, you will play a critical role in maintaining seamless data flow across systems, building robust data models, and designing experiments to optimize decision-making. Working with best-in-class tools like Snowflake and Domo, you will collaborate with data engineers to develop and manage data pipelines while partnering with business stakeholders to create insightful reports and visualizations that drive crucial business decisions. This is an opportunity to be hands-on in shaping the future of our revolutionary automobile e-commerce business across North America.

What you will be doing:

  • Own & Drive: Take full ownership of the BI domain—proactively identifying issues, surfacing insights, and driving action without waiting for direction.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with business teams across product, sales, and operations to understand processes, ensure data availability and quality, and unlock growth opportunities.

  • Data Mastery: Work across multiple systems and data sources, manipulating and transforming large datasets using SQL, Python, and BI tools to generate impactful insights.

  • Experimentation & Analytics: Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests and other experiments to optimize business strategies and inform decision-making.

  • Applied Data Science: Leverage fundamental machine learning and data science principles to model trends, predict outcomes, and develop data-driven solutions to complex problems.

  • Scalable Solutions: Implement simple, intuitive, and reliable data models and visual solutions, ensuring dashboards and reports drive key business decisions.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify enhancement areas to refine existing data processes, optimize infrastructure, and expand analytical capabilities.

  • Mentorship & Growth: Coach and mentor team members to strengthen analytical skill sets across the organization, fostering a data-driven culture.

You should have the following:

  • 2+ years of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence experience, with a focus on designing scalable data solutions.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, break them down, and propose strategic solutions.

  • Advanced SQL and RDBMS experience (e.g., Snowflake, RedShift, Oracle, SQL Server), with the ability to optimize queries and manage large datasets efficiently.

  • Experience in data pipeline development, including extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL/ELT) data between cloud-based data warehouses and BI platforms in a scalable and sustainable way.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, or Scala for automation, data transformation, and API integrations.

  • Strong foundation in data modeling and governance, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and best practices in structuring datasets for long-term usability.

  • Expertise in data visualization and dashboarding, with Domo experience preferred, including the ability to create intuitive and impactful reports.

  • Experience setting data structure and strategy, implementing governance policies, and ensuring efficient data organization for business-wide access.

  • Understanding of cloud-based data architectures, security best practices, and scalable data management strategies.

  • Advanced spreadsheet skills (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets) for ad hoc analysis and data validation.

  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a willingness to stay updated on emerging BI technologies and best practices.

  • Experience with DOMO is a plus
