What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting to Senior Director, Business Integration, as a Director, Business Analytics will provide leadership, guidance and deliver insightful analytics and use automated tools to enable the business to make valuable business decisions. By developing short and long-term plans that addresses the needs of Client Account Management team, internal stakeholders and external partners, the Director will support the implementation of collection models, strategies, build platforms that enable us to manage accounts and optimize the risk/reward trade-off. This includes optimizing the use of leading-edge tools with advanced analytical techniques including AI and Machine Learning models where applicable.

How You’ll Succeed
- Analytics - Monitor and analyze champion/challenger and segment performance via data queries, observation, and front-line staff feedback. Create analytical queries to segment clients into different groups to create targeted strategies. Conduct appropriate regression analysis to understand what variables are most predictive of contact success as well as desired outcome from contact.
- Innovation and Results Driven Business Insights - Develop a 1–3-year roadmap for business analytics strategies and tools ensuring alignment with the collection account management approach across products. Direct the execution of analysis, modeling and reporting of CAM performance data to support continuous improvement and opportunity identification. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and interpretation of all data analysis output provided by the team in support of risk strategy design. Continuously challenge and improve collection strategy through analysis of customer behavior data and sophisticated statistical/data mining techniques. Deliver comprehensive recommendations/proposals to management including executives and business leaders.
- People Leadership - Building capabilities that position CIBC to manage collections risk and optimize return through sophisticated analytics. Foster and promote an environment of collaboration, inspiring others to perform by being an effective role model and championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values; Hiring the right talent in the right roles to align individual capabilities with job requirements and business unit goals.
- Engagement and Communication - Build and maintain effective cross functional relationships with other CIBC business partners to facilitate effective design and delivery of reporting and analytics tools and strategies. Provide collection & credit risk management expertise, guidance and counsel to business partners both internal and external. Maintain industry knowledge of leading-edge risk management tools and practices by developing productive relationships with leading industry vendors.
Who You Are
- A graduate degree in business, Math, Statistics, MBA or 5 or more years of practical experience in retail credit or collection risk management.
- You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You're confident in your ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.
- Methodologies of credit risk management. Strong knowledge of the concepts, principles and methodologies of credit risk management are required to perform the function of the job successfully.
- Tools and technologies. Working knowledge of tools and technologies such as SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, Power Bi, Power Automate, SAS & Python, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning tools.
- You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.
- You're digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends.

- You can demonstrate experience and knowledge of marketing practices and targeted communications evidenced by; experience with running champion/challenger strategies on communication channels and Marketing industry knowledge.
