The Data Analyst, Patient Services Reporting and Analytics will be responsible for the generation, interpretation, and dissemination of critical insights that support current and future Therapeutic Areas Patient Services & Commercial objectives. Working in a highly cross functional matrix team as the Patient Services Reporting & Analytics subject matter expert, this role will embody our PS R&A mission to transform disparate inputs into actionable insights that enable timely, data-driven decisions across Patient Services to improve the overall Alexion patient treatment journey. The ideal candidate will have experience in Rare or Ultra Rare Patient Services or Commercial Analytics and a thorough understanding of HIPAA compliance, optimal patient and caregiver interactions, patient journey, patient access barriers, including insurance coverage, reimbursement, financial limitations, site of care, and drug distribution. The role involves close collaboration with cross functional leaders to gain key insights into the patient journey and important metrics linked to the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- The hands-on creation and implementation of standard reports, ad-hoc analyses, and alignment across predefined metrics for one of Alexion Patient Services Therapeutic Areas: Hematology/Nephrology (Complement), Metabolics, and Neurology
- Analyze intricate data to identify patterns and gain a detailed understanding of patient treatment journeys in relevant Therapeutic Area(s).
- Working with Patient Services, Therapeutic Area, and Brand Leadership to create launch strategies and monitor performance to see opportunities.
- Applying and combining various data sources like Patient Services PII/PHI, specialty pharmacy improved service, dispense, and status data, direct order and shipment data, IDN buy and bill data, hub data including BI/BV, copay, payer, and financial assistance program data, REMS data, claims data, electronic medical records data, financial forecasts, etc.
- Collaborating across various departments, at all levels of the organization, to analyze findings, build suggestions, and communicate practical insights to team members
- Leading a proactive and detailed approach to capturing and understanding collaborator needs for standard and ad hoc reporting and analytics that support strategic decision making
- Managing a range of analytical projects that may require the supervision of external vendors or IT and ensure progress per timelines, scope, budget, and steering committee leadership
- As a subject matter expert who understands the data story, anticipate business questions and proactively provide answers to leadership
- Communicating findings, recommendations, and sophisticated analytic solutions to technical and non-technical collaborators in a clear and effective manner
- Developing automated analytical solutions and visualizations and recommend strategies to improve business outcomes and patient experiences
- Translating business needs into technical solutions, analyze critical metrics, and participate in business reviews
- Cleaning, validating, and integrating analysis-ready data sources into curated data sets for ad hoc analysis creation; conduct data tests and troubleshoot any issues that arise
Essential Education, Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 4+ years of insights and analytics experience is required
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Python, R, SAS, SQL, etc. and dashboard tools such as Qlik, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
- Ability to quickly pick up new systems for information extraction
- Experience working in Hub, Patient Services, or Commercial pharmaceutical/biotech organizations
- Proficiency in data storytelling
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills as well as teamwork abilities
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Ability to quickly focus on critical issues while prioritizing current work
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/assignments to demanding deadlines with minimal supervision
- The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. Desired Experience & Skills:
- Rare disease and/or Hematology, Nephrology or Neurology Patient Services or commercial experience
- Ability to drive innovation, automation, and continuous improvements in a fast-paced, data driven environment
- Working knowledge of statistical models, predictive models, and data/text mining algorithms
- High degree of creativity and innovation in developing novel approaches, processes, and methodologies in analyses and reporting
- Understanding of marketplace and economic forces and trends to better support advising on sound business decisions
