The Role:
As a leader in cloud-based security solutions, Proofpoint is constantly consuming and generating data. This internship will include work to gather, consume, generate and analyze some of that data which is being generated. The intern will work with members of the Data and Analytics team on business requirements, identifying and implementing solutions needed. The intern will communicate with business groups within the company and may provide demonstrations and training on the solutions presented.
Day-to-day tasks:
- Work with Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR/P&C, Engineering, Operations etc. to understand their business intelligence requests
- Work with the Data Team to understand the requirements and identify work product needed to provide solutions
- Create proofs-of-concept and implement solutions that satisfy the business requirements
- Learn and interface with the Data Warehouse, applying data access, filtering and analytics tools to implement solutions
- Work with the data team on presenting solutions to the business groups
What you bring to the team:
- Interest in creating, tying together and analyzing data
- Skill in visualizing patterns associated with data
- Ability to leverage tools (both legacy data-related and AI) to gather, consume, report and analyze data
- Passion to learn and apply what you learn
- Willingness to ask questions
Job Requirements:
- Minimum: 30 hours per week (when not in school), 20 hours per week (when in school), 10 hours (during mid-terms / finals)
- Available to join meetings (at least 2 per week) either in-person (in office) or via video conference (assuming no school/tests are in the way)
- Class work showing some experience with data processing, graphics, or data visualization
- Good communication skills
Candidate Profile:
You have the ability and interest in working full-time (a maximum of 40 hours/week) in our Sunnyvale, CA office, in correspondence with the company’s hybrid policy. You are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree and are successfully maintaining an above average GPA. This summer internship is scheduled to run from mid-May to August 2025.
